Well, it’s not neccesarily that they aren’t CAPABLE of being personal… they can do that with people who agree with them or who provide an opportunity to advance the narrrative they believe in.
They depersonalize “other” … which is actually a natural human reaction … but one that a decent civilization dampens or suppresses to a certain degree. My friend Van Harvey has his own term for these self-described Progressives”, and this is the kind of thing he’s talking about. He calls them “Pro-Regressives”
The usually charitable Dennis Prager was asked recently the big question about leftism: Does leftism attract terrible human beings or does leftism make human beings terrible. I believe his basic response was that he has reached the point where he can’t tell. There are awful people everywhere, but the left seems to ooze it out in everything they do and say. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.
It could be a good part of both. There are many studies about people that are overweight having fat friends. People that are not overweight will gain weight when spending a lot of time with overweight people. Smokers find it harder to quick with smoking friends. Same for alcoholics. People that spend time with leftists will have leftist ideals bombarding them and might eventually end up in a leftist bubble, seeing nothing but the horrors done by normal people and start to think of them as evil.
On the other hand, with evil people holding leftist thoughts, they will normally gravitate toward other leftists and thus re-reinforce the terrible nature of the left.

There was a growing trend on social media that if you were a out and proud supporter of President Trump, half of the people you “follow” or are “friends” with would un-follow and un-friend you. To which I thought, good saves me the time of clicking a whole bunch of buttons to get them off of my feed.
