Never do we hear actual stats on “surges,” the ratio of vaccinated to unvaccinated patients in hospitals, an age breakdown of who is dying (last I checked, the average age according to the CDC itself was 78), length of hospital stay…or pretty much anything that might be of value to reasonable, sane Americans attempting to assess the level of risk and do a personal cost-benefit analysis weighing advantages and disadvantages to determine how to run their own lives.

Some of you know that my background is in Aerospace. I have been saying this about plane travel since the get go. Might even be on one of the member zooms we did back at the beginning of this. Locked in an aluminum tube with 200 people exhaling, the air needs to be processed frequently just to keep people alive.
I have a different method to bring about a change back in airlines requiring masks: Don’t Fly.
We have made a conscious decision to visit places to which we can drive. And there are a lot of places we haven’t been that we can visit. If we the people make it known that we are not flying and why, the policy will change.
Oh, and much business travel is going away. Not really due to Covid fear porn, but because of the cost savings. Travel only if necessary. But it is amazing how much more likely to get approval if the trip is by car.

Me too/either. I’ve only flown once or twice since 9/11, for family events on the other side of the country. Otherwise I drive or don’t go. Back in the Good Ole Days, I loved Southwest and flew a lot with them because they made it easy, fun, and cheap. It’s none of those things now.
