The Most Obscene, Repulsive, Disgusting Word in the English Language

Compliance, according to Bill Whittle, is the most obscene, repulsive, disgusting word in the English language. So, why do so many Americans (and Australians) embrace it eagerly?

In a way, isn’t this right up there with the psychological experiments where the four people in on the experiment will say line number 2 is longer, and the one person not in on it will agree with the four confederates rather than state that line number 4, the obviously longer line, is the longer line.

Jarrett Stepman from daily Wire nailed this morning:
The petty tyrannies of a failed ruling class are becoming as difficult to ignore as the honking in Canada’s capital.

You know … it’s weird. I never had anything against the vaccines. I was never not going to take a vaccine for this when it came out – when Trump was president, and after. I made the decision based on my knowledge of the immune system and how vaccines work, and hell, I get a FLU shot because I hate being wiped out for 10 days in the winter time and I’ll do what I can to help avoid that.

On the other hand, I was ALWAYS against a mandate and still am, for reasons we all know.

So on the one hand, one could say I’m “compliant” because I did the thing that they wanted to (but have been unable to, on a broad scale) mandate. But I didn’t do it because of the mandate. I did it because I believed in the tech and the people who did the work to make it. That said, there was no way I WASN’T going to carry out my personal decision just BECAUSE it was also being “mandated”. My decision is my decision regardless of what the State wants.

The masks — I only wore them when a store or doctors’ office said they required it. I remember though, going down to do a float trip (ask Steve what that is) in SE Missouri – and on the store-front window it said we had to wear masks, and when I went in the people behind the counter said “you don’t have to wear that in here, we just have to put that on the door” (I guess local health “regulations”). The mask thing was … yeah, you got it, Zo, the pharisees of our day.

I saw a quote the other day that said basically “Yeah, I’m vaccinated because I want to be, but I’m not short sighted enough not to realize that I might be against the next thing the government wants me to inject into my body.”

In other words, personal responsibility, personal decisions.

On N-95’s, walked into Sam’s Club the other day, and a lady with a little Kiosk … and this rolled WAY too easily off her tongue, said:

“N-95 mask? They’re *free* from the government.”

I did not take one. Mind you they ARE the only masks that have a chance of working (when worn properly). But I’m vaxxed and boosted AND … I’ve had Omicron. If I’m carrying, we’re ALL in big trouble.

And *nothing* is “free from the government”. We pay for it (or our grandkids will, anyway).

Bill,
Have you ever heard of the concert Frank Zappa performed once where he had his stage crew pass out Kotex pads to everyone in the audience and had them cover their eyes with the pads? When they all (mostly?) _complied_, he told them how stupid they were to just do anything that someone told them to do.
I have to add, I believe you are wrong about evil. If you know anything about sociopaths – even more so than psychopaths – there are indeed evil people who recognize that what they do is considered evil, is beyond the pale of civilized behavior, but firmly believe they have no need to comply with the moral principles of their society. They have decided they exist above and beyond such considerations, not that they simply believe what they do is right and proper – for anyone but themselves..
Hitler knew it when he used the Jews as a cause to band the people of Germany together. Stalin knew it when he starved 7+ million kulaks (Ukrainians) to death, men, women, and children. Mao knew it when he murdered well over 70 million of his own people (many by starvation, too).
Yes, there are Karens and Neils (Young) who think what they are doing is right, but the Soros, Pelosi, Newsom, Cuomo, Obama, Clinton, Cheney, McConnell, Boehner, Ryan, and other scum are indeed evil, know what they do is wrong for America as it was crafted to be, meant to be, but disagree with any requirement to do what they were elected to do, which is to represent us and our needs, our desires, our religion, and protect our rights. I know they don’t try to hide some of what they do, but if they didn’t know their actions were wrong, immoral, self-serving, they wouldn’t bother trying to hide so much of what they do.

I’m late to the party as usual but so glad to be a tiny part of The Virtue Signal. This may be the best one I’ve seen so far. Thanks for the excellent treatment of this subject.
Lots of thoughts but you guys don’t need any help today.

I’m very grateful that Zo cleared up the Biblical edict to obey authority.

Just to quickly remind anyone that’s interested, the passage most often cited in that regard is Romans 13:1-7

At first blush and out of context with the rest of the Bible, that verse would seem to say that whatever your government tells you, you must comply. Just a couple days ago I had someone try to shut me up by citing that very Bible passage right here on BillWhittle.com. It’s a common thing and sadly all too common for professing Christians to use to silence other Christians.

Before I go on (and on, and on) I want to caution you about people who cite a specific passage to try motivate you to do something. This isn’t the only case of that happening, it happens a lot.

If you don’t have the context right, it would seem that God Himself is demanding that you submit to things like turning in Jews to the NAZI party in Germany. Does that seem “right” to you?

Well, if that were the case, then the Hebrews had no business defying Government Authority and leaving Egypt. The government of Egypt didn’t want to let the Israelites go and if they were compelled by God to obey all government authority then leaving is something they should not even have contemplated. This was not a ‘one off’ special case either, God does not break his own rules.

Paul, who wrote the Book we know as Romans, didn’t obey government authority unfailingly. He escaped from a prison cell the the government had put him in. Jesus himself defied the Sanhedrin, a Jewish authority co-opted and overseen by Roman authority for the purposes of keeping the Jews in line. (The Romans “allowed” the Sanhedrin to exist and function as long as no Roman laws were violated.)

So clearly that’s not exactly what that passage in Romans means. If you have an opinion that doesn’t fit reality then it is your opinion not reality that is wrong.

How do we know this to be so?

When the authority commands you do a thing not aligned with the Will of God then you are not compelled to obey that authority.

A great example of this is when Peter and John were arrested by Jewish authorities in the book of Acts. They were arrested (clearly arresting people is a mark of an ‘authority’) and commanded not to speak or teach in the Name of Jesus. Their reply in Acts 4:19 is clear —

“Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge; for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”

They were arrested again, on the same charges. They were told again to stop preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Their reply was …

“We must obey God rather than human beings!” — Acts 5:29

So when is civil disobedience and defying authority called for? When it conflicts with the Will of God Almighty.

Governments may have authority over you but their authority does not supercede the Authority of God.

So when someone tells you that you must obey the authority of Joe Biden, a known advocate of the slaughter of human babies for political gain who calls himself a “Good Catholic” though he is anything but, and that you ought to just shut up and do as you’re told because God said so …

They’re mistaken.

Remember that reducing the population via abortion is the same as sacrificing our children to the “god” of population control. And God sent Israel and Judah into exile & slavery (in part) because they sacrificed their children to false gods. God was patient with Judah for several hundred years, but eventually He lost his patience. As Habakkuk asked: “How long, O Lord, must I call for help? But you do not listen!… Must I forever see these evil deeds? Why must I watch all this misery? Wherever I look, I see destruction and violence. I am surrounded by people who love to argue and fight. The law has become paralyzed, and there is no justice in the courts.” (Hab 1:2-4)

Why are so many people lining up to be slaves yet these very same people complain when others try to free them the only answer I can come up with is that they live in fear.

Compliance is a filthy word in some circumstances. Normally, I conduct myself within the bounds of decency – polite, agreeable in context, and without question obey laws based on the Christian moral code. Some laws that I don’t agree with – tax usury for instance – I obey with reluctance, but always with a spirit of legally avoiding it if possible. When asked to comply with a command that is patently ridiculous, bears no resemblance to reality or common sense, is merely a construct being forced upon me, or is against my moral ethics, then I get resistant and stubborn, resulting in refusal to comply. This has been my position with the onerous diktats imposed by tyrannical city, state and federal government regarding Covid. I would go to jail or a gulag before I will comply. I will not comply with having my intelligence insulted or ethics compromised. Sorry. No can do.

As a side note, I stayed in a hotel in Montreal, where all signs must be in French and English.
The English word was “cooperation”, the French translation wasn’t the word for cooperation. It was the word for “compliance”.

One way I know that these “laws” are not enforceable is by simply ignoring them and nothing happens, or at worse, I’m told it’s a rule they are following. My response is to tell them I respect their decision to follow a rule that isn’t a law, but it does not apply to me. If they are insistent I leave.

Or as the popular meme says, “If you’re wondering how you would have behaved in Nazi Germany, how you’re behaving today is exactly the same”

Bill regarding your plan to have more exciting titles/intros and asking people to hit the like button (I am all for that plan by the way) It might be a good idea for episodes of the Virtue Signal to do a 10 second intro before the title card/music part. It might help with the algorithms for this show as well.

Great suggestion, Grayson. I’m not sure TV-style pre-produced lead-ins like this have relevance in the online world, where the first three seconds determine viewing longevity.

Just my two cents, I hate canned lead-ins for online videos. They’re a carryover from padding in television broadcasts. Some people think they need them to look “professional” but they’re a waste of time, my time.

That said, it’s a good idea to pitch a plea to hit the “like button” and subscribe during the opening. My experience may or may not be typical but I often forget to click the thumbs up icon when the video ends. It’s a good reminder and it takes about 2 seconds.
