Which is ironic. If you mock anyone else, you’re a horrible person (to them). But this is perfectly ok, nay, to be encouraged.
Whle I am sure this rep pulled this as a stunt to just show that he doesn’t need to swear on a Bible, you all made some great points as to why this should still be a virtuous ideal.
Or it may just be that if he had sworn on a Bible he might have been engulfed in flames like the Nazi’s at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
So this was probably safer for him.

The fact that Superman is a metaphor for the United States is important to remember. Being held back not by any country’s military but by our own morality and sense of justice is a beautiful thing.
