Great. Matt Mason and the moon men… great. What happened to The Colonies?
The fact that out vocal pagan takes offence at a comment about Satanists is telling. Its general Christian theology that Satan is behind all false gods but the difference between Satanists and Pagans is that Satanists know it and Pagans by definition do not. Whether its ghosts, spirit guides, ancestor worship, animal spirits of old tribal paganism or newer but still ancient pantheons; Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Indian, Aztec, etc. Anthropologically pantheons are just a merging of regional or tribal gods as empires grow and stabilize.
We also have reformers who’s teaching have morphed into a religion: Buddha; Confucius; Taoist. But they are all manipulations of Satan with various stage names.
Islam, Some Roman catholic sects, all the cults including the Mormons are just another angle he has tried. The UFO’s are the newest iteration. AI programmers may be another target but atheist programmers have long been manipulated.
There are four simple tests to see if something is of the devil.
Does it attack the bible, not merely debating translations, but rejecting the idea of Gods word.
Does it make recommendations that prove unscientific. Food claims. Healing rituals, etc. Not counting the creation evolution debate since those are testable, your just forbidden to know about the test when evolution fails. Biblical miracles are claims of science and causality being over ridden by the creator so are not testable or unscientific.
Do they teach socialism, or some primitivist equivalent, or another rejection of private property and capitalism.
Do they reject morality. Which is the documented sum knowledge of sex related medical effects and a few social effects. We were designed as a monogamous species everything else produces conflict and disease and inbreeding.
Most pagans I know take one or more of these stances. Satanists take them all publicly. We see the same 4 tests visibly failed with all Asian religions, all Christian cults, some Roman Catholic orders, and even UFO aliens when they make recommendations support the same things. Bible is rejected, strange unworkable medical suggestions, collectivism is advocated in some form, immoral behavior; cult leaders get all the girls. Even UFO close encounters of the 3rd kind include rapes.
Satan is the father of lies. He is defeated but not destroyed. He takes revenge on those that he can; generally those that deny or try to redefine god somehow become vulnerable.
While I understand Bill’s objection to Hollywoodizing the 2019 Midway movie with CGI and the like I have to say I enjoyed it immensely compared to the 1976 Charlton Heston version. The new one had no ridiculous side stories of father and son pilots and Japanese girlfriends in internment camps. It was just the stories of the pilots giving their real names and stories, there was no Mary Janes or numinous Negros because there weren’t any in the original event.
