I remember DB being described as a freak and that it would not be long for him to be in the dust bin of music history. It was an interesting journey for him. Ultimately, he was described as genius. Now, his work is being embraced by others.
Well, I embraced the freak when I was 16 yrs old and have been a fan of his ever since. I guess I always thought he was a genius. Others often mistook his mode of entry into the rock scene as superficial, but if they had taken the time to actually hear those early lyrics, they would have thought otherwise. I’m glad he got his due in the end.
It was the same for me. My parents were horrified when I started paying attention to his music. I liked the fact that he was willing to take risks and not simply churn out commercial formula pop songs.
