Airbus FAIL: How USA Beats Socialism in Air and Space

Airbus cancels the gigantic A380 airliner, while Boeing 747 keeps going strong. SpaceX builds re-launchable rockets, while Arianespace makes them disposable to generate make-work jobs. The aerospace industry provides the perfect parable of how the the USA beats socialism every time.

From a Quora discussion the consensus is 2 ton of fuel for the final landing burn, 4 ton for the re-entry burn and 6 ton for the boost-back burn if required (ie if returning to the launch pad). The original fuel load of the first stage is 400 ton. So, from about 1.5% to 3% of the original fuel load of the first stage is used to land. I score that a win for Bill!
