Just like with the COVID lockdowns and mandates, I’m not willing to declare the Ministry of Truth dead until the communists have been rooted out of our government never to return again.

I once heard this … and I really liked it: “Science is the study of matter. Religion is the study of WHAT matters.”
There are no morals in science. Any moral argument that uses science as a moral base is baseless. Science can inform us about what the situation actually is… but it tells us exactly nothing about whether or not it’s right, morally.

Hey Bill, you mentioned the science working to bring people to faith. If you’re looking for biology info I liked “Darwin’s Black Box” by Michael Behe. Since you’re a space nut (same here) I’d check out anything from Reasons to Believe, most of the stuff is written by Hugh Ross. “More Than a Theory” is a great start. Hugh Ross is an astrophysicist and ended up sciencing himself into faith.

So, for what it’s worth, I’m a bit of a science nut in that there are few areas I don read about – not that I pretend to understand any of them. My favorite, though is physics. When God created this universe, the math of physics HAD TO BE His tool. Else wise, this universe wouldn’t work in any way we’d recognize – not that we’d even be here to recognize it! We continue to strive to learn how He did it. We will NEVER learn it in its entirety, but someday we may prove worthy to reach out and touch the hand of … God!

I think I’ve just heard a marvelous 21st century version of the “problematic” Creation explained in easily understood contemporary computer terms.

This concept was best illustrated to me in The Dancing Wu Li Masters by Gary Zukav, which explains quantum physics without any big math equations. (This book was an optional supplement to a real course in quantum physics, that did include the equations.)
In one breath: Based on how rigorously we can define and employ the scientific method, it’s all that we can do to usefully name and describe the observed phenomena to each other in a manner that supports further investigation and application. Every chapter is Chapter-1. I saw absolutely no dissonance with the Bible, anywhere.
Beautifully written for understanding and self-consistency, at the end of this book I was smiling – in wonder. Highly recommended.

When Republicans are in office, America’s decline goes into freefall. When Demonrats take power, they turn on the afterburners and we go into a power dive. The graph is a descending sinewave. Each succeeding crest is lower than the preceding crest, and each succeeding trough is lower than the preceding trough. Just because it feels temporarily “better” doesn’t mean anything.
It’s ridiculous to say, “the religious and moral immune system of this country was so unbelievably strong…” If your immune system is “unbelievably strong,” you don’t get sick in the first place. America’s aggregate electorate continues to be the dog who returns to lap up its own vomit.
Re-read Rom 1. Homosexuality won’t be Judged by God. Homosexuality IS God’s Judgment upon a society. The ONLY “solution” is to Spiritually immigrate to obtain citizenship in Heaven by individually repenting and entrusting your eternity to King Jesus for 100% of your salvation.
Disney just announced their release of a series of toys for young children with LGBTQ+++ characters! Conservatives need to beat Disney stock and businesses into submission!
There is an increasing awareness of Christianity world wide just look at the news. I take comfort in that fact and only worry that awareness is not enough but also believe that more will come that supersedes awareness.
American Christians praying along the lines of 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 may be why things are changing. We need to join them and encourage all Americans to ask God to forgive us and heal America.
Salt is the root word for salary, soldier, and many other examples because salt used to be one of the most important elements of human culture. Roman soldiers were paid in salt, hence salary. “He’s worth his salt” same out of this. One of the most edifying books that I have read was “Salt, a World History” by Kurlanski.
One of the best Virtue Signals so far. I’m an optimist by nature, but I’m with Alfonzo on this. The wheel of history turns in cycles. The Fourth Turning by William Strauss and Neil Howe may be useful in predicting the future through the lens of history.
