America’s Karen Has a Plan: Punish “Unconscionably Excessive” Price-Gouging to Stop Inflation

Can freezing prices fix inflation? Has Sen. Warren ever read Thomas Sowell’s ‘Basic Economics’?

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-MA, introduces a bill to punish “unconscionably excessive” price increases during “market disruptions” (like the pandemic). This, she says, will stop inflation. Is price gouging just the latest manifestation of corporate power? Can freezing prices fix inflation? Has Sen. Warren ever read Thomas Sowell’s ‘Basic Economics’?

Sounds like “Moreton’s Fork”. Henry VII’s chief minister, Archbishop Moreton, assessed the nobility and gentry. If you spent lots of money you clearly had lots of money to give to the King. If you spent very little, then you’d clearly saved a lot, and must have lots of money to give to the King. Either way, you were stuck on Moreton’s Fork.

I think Bill and Zo should cover this story as well. Because this doomed bill has no chance of passing and is nothing more than unconscionable Virtue Signaling on Warren’s part.

The nice thing about terms like “excessive”, “abnormal”, “unconscionable” is the very precise legal definition attached to each of them, so that argument is avoided.

Steve’s right, and Demonrats have NO consciences. He’s wrong in calling her an idiot. She is a traitor. Her OBVIOUS goal is to end America. If this sow EVER took an economics course and passed it, she needs to DEMAND A REFUND; or, she just needs to acquire a conscience.

This little scheme of the Red Witch Liawatha is simply a poorly veiled attempt at price fixing.

Bad, unsound governments, socialists, communists and all other manner of tyrannies screw up their economies with entitlements and vote buying, or other unwise and unsound economic policies — Then try to fix prices so that the public won’t toss them out of power when the economy goes south.

This is a major warning sign of impending political doom. It is a band-aid on the gushing wound in the throat of a political party.

This could be viewed optimistically as another step in the downfall of the Democrat Party but it’s also dangerous and a genuine warning sign to the rest of us too.

There’s an old adage that goes “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” and that’s true as far as it goes. The trick is not to get killed because what does kill you doesn’t make you stronger, it makes you dead. Therein lies the threat to the life of our beloved Republic.

These people need to study Diocletian, the Roman Emperor from 284-305, he did a lot of what Dems today are doing. This includes, 1) taxing wealth, 2) Price controls, 3) Expanding the number of tax collectors 3) debasing the currency further, 5) gov seizure of assets this list just keeps going on and on. It all failed and yet they believe it will work this time when it has failed every time this stuff has been tried for the last what, 1700+ years?

One of the great advantages of replacing education with indoctrination is that stuffy ol’ history gets sorely neglected. In fact, any historic lesson that runs counter to “the narrative” is either discarded or discredited.

Then when people come up with these same old bunkum schemes that have failed many times before they can think they’re so clever they’ve come up with a totally new path to Utopia. And they’re indeed told they are that clever by the people who stand in the wings maneuvering to seize power.

Yes, it’s all failed before including the failure to learn from history and that failure is accentuated when you don’t learn history at all.

I would personally say the if we really want to learn a lesson from history then the American Neo-Marxist Left is an exact parallel to French Jacobins. It seems to me that we can expect an exactly parallel outcome too.

“Extortion Racket” is the ultimate, “wink-wink, nod-nod” moniker the Democratic Party is hoping to create out of the Federal Government.
As a potential $100,000,000/year money maker, if this law was adopted, I would make a subsidiary company that was “responsible” for the next $99,999,999 after the first $99,999,999 was earned.

Liawatha doesn’t want to personally pony up extra revenue for the government, she wants everyone else to pay for her party’s largesse.
Price-gouging is in the eye of the beholder.
