Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, gets failing grades on the only thing she was really hired to do — serve her constituents. She doesn’t show up. The people she represents can’t reach a human at her local office. What was she elected to do?

AOC Flunks Constituent Services: Public Servant or Public Spectacle?

One criticism. Not a small one, but a necessary one. Steve: Please don’t use cute plays on a person’s name. It denigrates the impact of your commentary. “Occasional Cortex” and other plays on her name have the same effect as those who referred to “President Obummer” and other such silliness. Be respectful as you tear into these miscreants. Those who support them will dismiss your criticisms as hateful when they see you using such things. I know. I know. They’ll dismiss your criticisms even if you are respectful, but they will have to work a little harder to do so… (Of course, this is just my opinion.)
In the 1992 UK election I was YC Chairman to for Harry Greenway. He was, at best, a middling guy, what we called a dog s**t politician. A British parliamentary constituency has around 65 to 80 thousand voters. He may not have been an ideologically warrior, but by the Lord, he did the local stuff. I met people who I doubt knew or cared what party Harry was, they voted for him because they knew him or what he’d done for someone they knew. It seems to me that the party system, in the UK and US, is a huge part of the problem.
Nicely done, Steve.
TYVM.
The Peter Principle would not exactly apply to AOC. The principle states that people are promoted to their highest level of incompetency and no more. It appears that AOC has gone vastly beyond that point by several levels.
A bit of rye humor light up the day 🙂
I suggest you listen to what I said a second time…
Panglossian means naively optimistic. He was saying the Peter’s principle, that in hierarchies people get promoted until they are in a position of incompetence, was way to optimistic. I have no idea how Steve even knew about these two terms. I always thought Bill and Scott just had him on as a pretty face.
None of those WTFers are Sweet Old Barts.
Sometimes I wonder of AOC is a Trump agent. What a gift that she proclaims so loudly what democrats are all about.
Even my socialist friend says she goes too far.
Before her election, AOC was dubbed the “Bronx Bolshevik” by people in her district who were not impressed. Those people will be happy to vote against her no matter who her opponent is.
Is AOC’s density one of those “known unknowns”?
Now up at Instapundit: AOC has asked for an office decoration boost by Bobby Burke of “Queer Eye” on Netflix. Nevvver mind a(nother) potential ethics violation.
She’s a left wing Icarus, having so much fun flying towards the sun, not noticing her wings are melting.
AOC had previously said that she felt that she could have more of an impact 10 years from now doing what she is doing…she clearly said that she has no interest in representing her constituents….
I’ve said this before and I’ll lay my marker again: Gulag Barbie will p*** off Pelosi once too often, get primaried out next year and immediately jump into MS13-NBC prime time
