Apple investors debate political diversity at annual shareholder meeting

While the proposal was shot down, it’s encouraging that the conversation is being had.

From the article:

“True diversity comes from diversity of thought. There is ample evidence that the Company – and Silicon Valley generally – operate in ideological hegemony that eschews conservative people, thoughts, and values,” the National Center for Public Policy Research wrote in its proposal to shareholders. “This ideological echo chamber can result in groupthink that is the antithesis of diversity. This can be a major risk factor for shareholders.”

The proposal was shot down, with more than 98 percent of shareholders voting against it.

Oh boy, where to start with this? 98% of shareholders in favor of idealogical purity? That’s like an election result in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Have reasonable people already divested themselves of Apple stock? Or are these shareholder votes voted overwhelmingly by proxy? Who then, are the proxies? And the puffery for the SPLC; I can earnestly believe that the characterization of that organization as a hate group came as a shock to many in the room, because they have ever been hated by the SPLC. So what hate crime has Ayaan Hirsi Ali been accused of by the US Government that warrants her being targeted by the SPLC?
