AR-15 Heaven

Hello Everybody!

Last year. after doing a ton of reading and research and educating myself on which firearm to get, I invested in a Colt AR-15 M4 style rifle.  This thing is a beast. Not only is it very accurate with minimal kick, its comfortable, easy to use and it’s cutomizeable (spelling?). I replaced the plastic factory hand guard with a heavier aluminum guard with rails on all four sides all the way down to the end of the barrel. I also picked out a decent scope that did not break the bank, although I am still trying to master zeroing it in. And I also put on a vertical foregrip for extra stability. I love going to the range with it and shoot about 200 rounds in an hour. However, the downside is that I live in New York State, so I am not allowed to have a detachable magazine, it is fixed and limited to only ten rounds. Loading the gun took getting used to, using a MA loader to load the magazine through the ejection port. It sure beats having to separate the upper and lower to manually load the magazine, but it’s still a little tricky because if you don’t do it just right, it jams; and getting out the jam in a fixed mag is a nightmare.  But I digress.

Recently, I decided to take my birthday money and invest in a second AR; a like-new pre-owned Stag Arms AR-15, NY- compliant featureless rifle  (no pistol grip, no threaded barrel, no adjustable stock, no bayonet lug) that allows for a removable magazine. The rifle is in tip top shape and looks brand new, It came with a hard shell case and I got an amazing deal on it. it looks a little bizarre, but it’s still really cool nevertheless. I have ten round magazines that are in a 30-round body, but is fixed to only accept ten rounds. If I can’t have the standard mags then at least I can have that “look”.

I gotta say, I love both of my rifles and I can see myself using them both equally as much. its just unfortunate that I had to get two of them with different features in order to have both options.  I hope to God that somehow, the Supreme Court overturns the New York SAFE ACT that King Cuomo and his comrades quietly signed into law without the people’s consent.

See you on the range! Happy Shooting!

The SAFE Act, and a violation of my First Amendment rights while attending a SAFE Act protest rally are the reasons I no longer live in New York. Here in South Carolina I thoroughly enjoy my original, Colt design, Palmetto State Armory AR15, with 30 round mags, on my backyard rifle range, where I also stay in practice for my CCW permit. BTW, I don’t have a pistol mag of less than 15 rounds, and I have 25 round mags for my Marlin 791. Sure you don’t want to move to warmer climes?

My eyes are on the Smokey mountains of Tennessee. Wonderful state, beautiful, warm, shorter winters, no taxes, freedom, and my father lives there with his wife. I love it there.
