When it comes to the 2024 Presidential Election, Steve is only certain of two things: First, that Biden will be the Democratic Party Nominee, and second, that Biden will not be the Democratic Party Nominee. Makes sense when you think about it.

I often think back to the 1992 presidential election when NO REAL democrat wanted to run because GHWB was so strong. It was expected to be a loser year for dims. Who even knew this Clinton guy who rose up among the ranks out of Arkansas…? Then this Perot guy showed up… With 16 months to go, I know only one thing. We have no idea who is going to run in this election or win it.
This was my TSL question for tonight’s canceled show, but since it was about Joe, II guess it’s still apropos…
It’s Jan 2020, at a family gathering, my aging retired widowed sister in law, a CA DEM delegate, rallied the entire family on my wife’s side to attack my wife and I for supporting Trump.
They asked : “We’ll, if you HAD to pick a democrat from the field and only vote for one democrat, who would you vote for?”
I said “Crazy uncle Joe! He’s far more harmless then the rest, he had a lot of government experience, I guess he’d be the least harmful”….(Dot Dot Dot) Boy, am I embarrassed now.  Should have gone with my (primal) instinct and said Tulsi.
The Question to any interested BW member: Has your opinion of Joe Biden changed dramatically from the democratic primaries, to what it is now? Like me, were you kind of thinking he was the least harmful of the bunch?
Actually an honest question. Curious about how you felt about him then and now.
I never thought of Joe as harmless in any sense of the word.
A peculiar and disquieting thing about being the POTUS — It’s damnable hard to accomplish any real tangible good in that office. It’s not impossible but it’s not even close to easy either.
Conversely, what’s easy as hell is to do a great deal of harm as POTUS. Even Barry Big Ears Obama, bless his little heart, warned us not to “underestimate Joe’s ability to F things up”.
So my opinion of him hasn’t really changed over the span of time you’re asking about. If anything, he’s just confirmed all my dreads about having him in the White House.
You asked.
I always knew Biden was a bully and an idiot. But I NEVER believed he was such a leftist. I, too thought he was a harmless old fool. I had no clue he would be used as a tool of the radical left in such an effective way.
So, yah we were fooled.
That party only cares about their party, the candidate matters little.
Party is all that matters. So be it Kamala, Gavin or Brandon they won’t care. It’s the Party.
Biden’s anger. Sounds like toxic masculinity to me. He has to go. Replace him with the first cis-lesbian yellow-identifying xeno-sexual furry candidate.
I love it when you guys talk realpolitik.
Trump’s Base, The Republican Party and Conservative America are not synonyms. There are a lot of Republicans who are fed up with Donald Trump and his shenanigans. Trump cultists have a sad knack of remembering every good thing Trump did and a memory hole they dump the bad things down. There are a lot of conservative voters who like me will hold their noses and vote for Trump if he’s the nominee. That doesn’t mean I have to be happy about it. It means that Trump despite his foibles, failings and F-ups is still the lesser of evils.
I can live with that. There are those who cannot and will not. Even on our side of the political aisle.
There’s a problem with people thinking Trump is some sort of popular hero that can’t lose because the Trump Base supports him. Trump’s Base isn’t enough to ensure he gets elected. Every single vote from every single Republican in America will not get Trump elected.
There’s still the swing vote and that swing vote is crucial. No matter how much you love Trump, the crucial swing vote probably won’t even come close to that kind of fawning adoration. It just won’t and it really doesn’t matter why it won’t.
The Democrats know this, it’s part of their calculations. So don’t think for one millisecond that if Trump is nominated that he’s an automatic win. He’s an automatic win for his base but the swing vote is a whole ‘nother critter.
I’m of two minds regarding the Democrats nominating Joe Biden to run again.
In the first case, Potato Joe is a known quantity in a dangerous era. Some of the swing vote will go to Joe simply because of that. He’s a “not Trump comfort vote”. You need to bear in mind that because of our corrupt media swing voters do not have solid political philosophies and only know the latest thing in the news that the corrupt media wants them to know.
Trump has plenty of smears on his character too. Which is something the corrupt media covers in depth. In fact, he has an awful lot of them. It doesn’t matter what you, the Trump Base thinks of those smears. It matters what the swing vote thinks of them and I promise you they’re nowhere near as forgiving as the Trump Base is.
If Trump is convicted of felonies, fair or not, right or not, that’s going to have a huge impact on the swing vote. I know, I know, he has the right to blah, blah blah ad nauseum. “He can still run for President from a prison cell” and all that useless hogwash …
That doesn’t matter to the swing voters he needs to get elected. It will work solidly against him with them. It will just be too easy for too many people to say “I’m not voting for a convicted felon!” Or “Better an unconvicted crook than a convicted one.” Etc. along those lines.
Stop right now and consider this seriously. HOW do YOU react to someone who’s been convicted of a felony? Would you elect someone you don’t particularly like a lot to say, the Governor’s Office of your State if that person were a convicted felon? Why should someone who is not head-over-heels in love with Donald John Trump think about that differently than you do? Just because it’s Donald Trump? That carries weight with you, everyone is not you.
That will be a deciding factor in the election. We will lose. The other side knows this perfectly well and that is why they are doing this to Donald Trump. They’re trying to poison the well. They’re succeeding, if they convict Trump of felonies they will have succeeded.
Being in denial of these realities does not change them even a tiny bit.
If Trump doesn’t beat the rap in court so he can blow all that off as evidence of persecution — He’s toast as a Presidential candidate and insisting on running him will be like bailing water with a bucket from a sinking cruise liner.
He may still get all the votes from every single Republican in the United States of America. That will not put him in the Oval Office.
We could easily run Trump and lose to the Democrats as a result of doing this and for other reasons. Do you seriously think they’ve given up on cheating once it has worked for them?
Do you seriously have enough faith in the people who claim no allegiance to the philosophy of our side to do the right, smart thing? If so, let me know. I’ve got a dandy bridge spanning San Francisco Bay for sale, real cheap.
Like it or not, that’s the way things are. I’m not saying the way things are is right, good or fair. It’s not and I know that as well as any of you do. It’s just the way things are.
So wake up, open your eyes, take a hard look and don’t fool yourself. There’s way too much self-delusion going on in this country as it is. Think, think again and yet again on how badly you want Trump to be the nominee. If he is convicted he not only SHOULD NOT be the nominee, he MUST NOT be. We will lose and there goes our hopes of saving this nation from the doom of Leftist Social Marxism.
Trump is not as important as America. No single living person is. If you’re willing to sacrifice America trying to save Donald Trump, which you will not be able to do anyway, you are no Patriot. You’re a Trumpie and an enemy of what is right and what’s Right.
In the second case, stipulating that Trump is nominated without felony convictions — Joe will have to debate. If he doesn’t, it will be very easy to point out long and loudly that he’s a coward who can’t think on his feet and should not be trusted with running the nation. If he can’t face a fellow American like Donald Trump, he sure as hell can’t face down Putin or Xi Xin Ping. The Democrats know this too.
However, when he does debate it’s going to be incredibly easy for Trump to get his goat and trigger a “Tell those damn kids to get the hell off my lawn” geezer geiser.
Trump would literally slay him in public if he can provoke him to that. Questions like …
“So Joe, tell us what you spent your $5 million dollar bribe on?”
“Why should America trust a man who won’t even acknowledge grandchildren of his own blood? Why should America send its young men and women to the military headed by a man who does that?”
“Why did Hunter leave his cocaine in the White House? Did he forget it was there or was he just too high? Or did he forget because he was too high to remember? Which is it, Joe?”
“How many classified documents can you pack into that Corvette of yours? Takes a lot of trips to get them all, doesn’t it?”
Etc. You get the idea.
If he can get Joe to blow up on camera that will run in every Republican campaign ad everywhere in the nation.
And people vote for people they like. Exposing Joe as the senile geriatric cranky unpleasant old dotard that he is will make him much less likeable. It will offset much of the dislike some people have for Trump too.
That might have a lot of impact with swing voters. If Trump can dodge a felony conviction.
While I don’t agree with everything you wrote, you make soem fair points.
I still say it doesn’t matter if the GOP nominates Jesus with Mother Theresa as running mate. We already know that approximately 200 million votes will materialize at 10 PM on election night in Philly, Detroit, Milwaukee, Reno, Phoenix, amd Atlanta. The GOP leadership has shown almost zero interest in fighting this – look at what happened in the 2020 runoffs and in AZ a few months ago. I’ll only be moderately surprised if the Dems decide to steal FL as well just to rub our noses in it.
I’m very curious to hear with what you disagree. Care to enlighten us? I read nothing in ACTS’ commentary that is disagreeable.
Like it or not, Donald J Trump is a mule with a lot of nasty baggage that cannot be swept under the political rug. Or did you enjoy the past 3+ years of unconstitutional mRNA shot mandates and societal closures which were a product of his Administration that was further leveraged by the current potato in Chief?
There are too many people that think vindicating Trump will save America. It won’t and like it or not Donald John Trump is not America. I’m on America’s side and if Trump wants to join me and do the right thing for our country that would please me greatly. I’m not at all convinced that Trump taking another run at the Oval Office is the right thing for America.
If he gets convicted of a felony or of felonies, that’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back and he should bow out. He needs to act for the good of the country, not what’s good for Donald Trump. That would be the true measure of his patriotism and failing that, he’s not the patriot his base dreamily imagines him to be.
Damn, I’m totally busted. The fact that I don’t agree with every single point in a lengthy comment clearly proves that I absolutely “enjoy the past 3+ years of unconstitutional mRNA shot mandates and societal closures which were a product of his Administration that was further leveraged by the current potato in Chief.” Brilliant analysis there.
Yeah, I don’t think that’s what Dave meant. Of course I don’t speak for him but it seemed to me that he was interested more in you expanding on your disagreements with what I said.
So am I, frankly. I don’t claim to know everything, or even to be right as often as Bill Whittle is. If I made a mistake or committed an error in my thinking I’d love to hear what you have to say about that. I’m a big boy, I can take it if I missed something and you can point it out to me. Thanks.
Check my other reply below at 5:05 PM – that’s the point I/m trying to make. Like I said, even tho I wasn’t with you 100% you had a lot of good points. Busy week – would have loved to have written a more thorough conversation but there just wasn’t time
I don’t know if 200 million votes pulled from thin air is a reasonable number or just hyperbole. Considering that total voter turnout in the 2020 election was +/- 156 million and an all time record since 1964, when I was six years old … I think that number is a bit off.
Granted, that’s 156 million votes counted and considering the cheating on the Left that number is absolutely inflated to some degree. But …
A significant part of what drove that number is also that people turned out to vote AGAINST Donald Trump.
I don’t call myself a Republican so I’m not defending GOP leadership here. There’s not a lot the GOP can actually accomplish other than making noise when they’re not in power. If they had won the Senate decisively in the midterms the situation might be different. That said, without at least both houses of Congress making noise is all that can be accomplished. I don’t know if the GOP leadership is trying to avoid accusations of election denial or just biding their time.
One thing I think we can count on is a significantly larger number of Conservatives watching the polls and voting mechanisms during the 2024 election. Time will tell. I think it behooves us, as Conservatives. to do all we can in that direction.
Scrutiny is a light that cockroaches hide from. If the Left’s cheating machine knows it’s being watched that will at least tamp down some of the cheating. The more effective the watching, the more significant the tamping.
I’m always frustrated when people bemoan a problem without suggesting any sort of countermeasures or solutions. Poll watching is a solution that can be implemented no matter who is in power. Cameras tend to make people more honest.
I don’t think we’re to the point of fatalistic defeatism yet. I could be wrong about that. As ever, I appreciate your reply.
It might be 200 million votes. It might be 2 million. It might be 20. It will be however many votes the Dems need to steal another election. They ran it perfectly in 2020. They’ve been improving their technique since then such as in AZ last year. They faced no consequences for what they did. And the GOP leadership’s reaction? “Gee, we need to work on our GOTV efforst to counter them”. My view is not fatalistic defeatism, rather at what point do we stop acknowledging a rigged system as legitimate, and start fighting the next war instead of the last one we’ve already lost?
Yeah, I did address the cheating issue in my original post. My posts tend to run pretty long as it is, I can only go into so much depth and that depth has to be used on my main points.
Cheating is a factor, it might be a really big factor. It certainly will be a significant factor. But it’s not the only factor. Any other detrimental factors above and beyond cheating will be magnified because the cheating is already causing significant degradation of the vote for our side.
That’s why I can say quite firmly and with great confidence that if Donald Trump is convicted of a felony or felonies, and we run him as the nominee, we will lose. Without the cheating we still might have a very, very slim chance but considering the historical realities a conviction for a felony or felonies is the kiss of death to our hopes in 2024.
It’s odd that there are so many people who believe Trump is the only hope for America when the real truth is he very well may be the one thing that destroys us. It takes a special and profound sort of pigheadedness not to see that because it is very, very obvious.
I’ve already made suggestions to address the cheating problem. They’re not magic bullets by any means. If you have a magic bullet, or even any useful suggestions on what specifically can be done about vote cheating besides “we have to fight the next war” which is kind of vague, very agreeable but mostly useless as a tactic …
Feel free to trot them out. I’m all ears.
Again, great talk, short on time to appropriately respond. While I wish I had a comprehensive Plan, this is the best I could offer – the last of a 4 part series I wrote last summer. And while it’s not a short read, it’s better if you start from the beginning.
With apologies to Star Trek TOS fans and especially our esteemed Bill Whittle, but the thumbnail used for this episode reminds me of this I made several years ago.
*BEEP*
And props for getting mentioned it Steve’s Insanity Wrap today!
Yea that was cool. Road Rider let me know. I have been working AT work this week and couldn’t see VIP content until earlier today.
Novel…just novel. Working AT work.
Or, was it WORKING at WORK?
There is a subtle difference between the two.
Yes, it is the former. I am reasonably productive working AT home, but there were things I needed to do hands on this week.
Biggest difference, my downstairs office at home is nice and cool, even on hot days. Thermostat upstairs is set at 72 so I am nicely 68 or 67 down slightly underground.
AT the office, about it is more like 72 or 73 with poor air flow.
Those 4 or 5 degrees are not that subtle.
The whole democrat party of these days is more concerned with being the ‘first’ party to do something, anything. As a result they are well on their way to being the ‘first’ to totally destroy the “last bastion of freedom.”
If Newsome gets the nomination; here is my short list for VP candidates from which they would choose (don’t hate me just going by the person has to be a first something something)
Elizabeth Warren – yes they would call her the first Native American
AOC (shudders at just typing) First Female, Latina, Jenny-from-the-block VP
Mayor Pete – first openly gay VP (saw an article a couple weeks ago that had him as the first openly gay Cabinet member. Apparently Richard Grennel doesn’t count as he was with Trump)
Cory Booker – He’d have to come out of the closet for this to work
Michelle Lujan Grisham – Gov NM, “the first Democratic Hispanic woman to be elected governor in U.S. history”. Note that they had to say first Dem Hispanic woman as Susana Martinez was previously Gov of NM but she was a Rep.
Kirsten Gillibrand – Already was Hillary’s chosen successor as NY Senator. Not sure what first she would be but I throw her out there as I think she would be a real possibility. Also, would probably cause Hillary to drink a case of Chardonnay if it happened.
and last but certainly not least, just because of deep sense of snark
Stacey Abrams – first something
Oh yes. Our reprehensible NM governor is the epitome of a diversity hire (known by some as Li’l Hitler) in a state full of Spanish speakers, and *it* would fit the Dem’s bill for VP since intelligence is not a requirement.
David – I got a real kick when I saw a blurb on her as the “first DEMOCRAT latina to be elected governor when the incumbent she replaced was also latina, just not the right party. You have to be gumby to bend over that far.
Two other dark horses to throw out – Fauci Flu tyrant Gov. Wilhelm up in MI is a rising star for her efforts to destroy America. And of course Gov. Abortion Mouse down in AZ pulled the most blatant voter fraud effort we’ve seen yet
I didn’t include AZ as I think she has no national recognition yet. And Whitmer I just think is reprehensible to most people and really don’t like her.
The other one I am leaving out of any discussion is the one who I think most wants the job (and like Hillary thinks he deserves it) and that is former Gov Nipple Piercing, Santino Cuomo. (I would call him Fredo but Chris is so obviously Fredo)
Stacy Abrams would be the first Federation President of Earth to also run for President of the United States of America.
When I saw that episode of Star Trek: Discontinuity I nearly tossed my cookies.
Live long and prosper.
Um, correction “Ron”, Hill only drinks her chard from a box….easier to “shotgun” the whole 2 liters that way.
The fellas are talking about reports of foul mouthed “Dark Brandon”…but could you imagine what a nasty foul mouthed monster Hillary might become with a belly full of sweet hooch?
MAGA! All the Way!
Biden now has a CPAP at night. He was seen wearing the CPAP facial impression marks. It was confirmed that he was using it at night. Imo he may possibly be getting a version of a cocktail called Brompton’s Elixir. Dr. Kubler Ross gave that elixir to her terminal patients to keep them alert and “with it” for their family members before they died. One version of the cocktail contained cocaine, gin and thorazine and it required an RX. So just maybe the cocaine stash was actually FOR Biden. This lot of Dem criminals will go to any lengths to keep Biden as lucid as they can for as long as they can. Will it work? Who knows?
Larry Elder summed up Biden* perfectly when he said, “Even before the dementia, Biden* was just plain dumb.”
I just don’t understand how anyone can have any compassion for either the reprehensible creature who bumbles in the Oval Office or said creature’s wife. They both made their own beds, and they must deal with the consequences of their greed and lust for power. Sooner would be better.
I can’t remember who said this, but Biden* has lived such a horrible life that there’s now wnobody in his life who loves him enough to make this stop.
An even more vivid example is Feinstein
Here goes my strange sense of humor.
When I saw the title of this Right Angle, and heard the first two sentences I immediately thought of the Hokey Pokey song:
“You put old Biden in, you put old Biden out, you put old Biden in, and shake him all about.
You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around , and that’s what its all about.”
That just about what the Democrats are going to have to do.
May as well have fun with it.(Us. Not them. They are in a no win scenario.)
PTSD. I’m remembering, wincing and with a jerking tremor, the last Presidential election. Trump accomplished so much and was taken down by a combination of Covid, lies about Russia, ballot-harvesting, and a media that was full-bore against him. The most disappointing thing was how easy it was to dupe the American public. A close second was an obvious “Weekend at Bernie’s” candidate being “preferable” for voters. Third was the power of abortion rights groups to overwhelm us in getting their supporters to the polls.
I’m also feeling chastened. Observing Biden last “election”, I would have sworn he’d be gone by now. All I can figure is that we’ve made great leaps in dementia management. Statistically, he should be done given his stage of disease.
Biden ran and won last time when there was no reasonable argument for his candidacy other than he wasn’t Trump. With Biden’s record in office, there’s even less reason to vote for him. I don’t know how I can go to bed the night of the next election comfortable, no matter how big a lead Trump might have. I mean, I don’t think I want to wake up and turn on the news.
I know just how you feel… I’ve loved politics and world events since I was 12 (a very long time ago). I remember the thrilled astonishment I felt when I woke to the news that Trump had won. I was disconsolate the morning after the 2020 vote, realizing that the many attempts to “correct” the many errors had no chance of success. Now, recognizing that WeThePeople no longer have a say, is discouraging, to say the least. Oh, I’ll vote my values and conscience, as long as I have breath, but I think it’s becoming an empty gesture with each passing election cycle.
“moving around like two fat kids on a see-saw mounted to a trampoline in one of those bouncy houses” – Steve Green
I’d use that line in the future, if I could remember all of it without having to read from a cue card! Green delivered it like a seasoned stand up comic or one time radio D.J. .
And that one line, just eclipsed his old PJTV line of “Being President is Harrrrd!” (Barbie Pull String Doll voice)
