Our prosperity allows us to forget the actual human toil that created our prosperity. The imagined world of small organic farms & subsistence living juxtaposed with the products of heavy manufacturing and mining of rare earth metals required to create such a world only exists in the minds of those who have never lifted a shovel.
Farming is hard. Mining is filthy. Manufacturing requires energy far beyond one man’s strength.
Face it: we can’t get back to Eden.
We don’t hear about Thorium reactors, I guess because it is zero carbon and would work disqualifies it.
The simple fact that the “green revolution” and climate change alarmists totally ignore nuclear energy in any form tells you a few things.
It tells you that there is some other agenda operative besides reducing the carbon emissions of mankind.
It tells you that you can relax about climate change. Because if we were all going to die if we don’t reduce our carbon emissions, and the only sure way to get there “in time” is through nuclear energy, then in the portrayed life-and-death struggle against climate change the most alarmed alarmists would be clamoring desperately for a massive increase in nuclear power production.
… and all that tells you that those people are lying to everyone.
Yes, the climate is changing. That’s what climate does, it changes. Whether due to human carbon emissions, fluctuations in solar energy or the eruption of a massive volcano on the Pacific Ring of Fire … climate is always changing. If you are a “climate denier” that says the climate is not changing then you are in the same scientific basket as flat-earthers and the electric universe crowd.
The only real questions are;
Those are all questions that lie within our technical capacity to answer and address. If those questions are not being answered and addressed then you’re not all that worried about climate change.
School of Public Policy. That’s who said it. Not the Electrical or Mechanical Engineering department. School of Public Policy. Nuff said.
“They” are insisting on green energy BECAUSE it will fail. They object to modern technological civilization because people are alive and live free than ever before in the history of mankind exactly because we were free to create it. They Want a prehistoric level of subsistence that you live by their permission and “generosity”. If you don’t bow to their whim, you will not be given permission to live.
In my not so humble opinion, they can bloody well go to hell!
I don’t understand, can’t fathom the mindset of radical progressives or anyone who believes the Marxist ideology. They can’t be psychologically healthy, intellectually honest or living in reality. I realize the lust for power, prestige and wealth is irresistible for many people, especially those who believe there is nothing beyond this life.
I agree with you that the most ideological democrat socialists, especially those in government, and the powers behind them want western civilization to fail. They want people who believe in freedom and individualism, and practice it, to be under the yoke of their rule. They are power-mad and evil beyond my, or any, understanding. What are we to do? Ayn Rand’s solution in her novel Atlas Shrugged was for the makers to abandon the users. Has it come to that? Do the majority of Americans truly believe the lies and misinformation they are force fed by MSM? This flu, dangerous and deadly for some, has become a horror show created to bring the masses under the control of the rulers. And many many people are willingly giving up their rights out of fear promoted to achieve exactly that end.
The truth is I’m an NPC – I won’t effect any major changes in this time of turbulence and turmoil, but neither will I play along to get along. If there is an uprising to bring this country back to its original founding and principals I will join it.

That is it. Noting more nor nothing less. For them reality is optional and the only thing that matters is what they want, the way they want, and immediately if not sooner. They are at war with reality. Such a war cannot be won. Our challenge is to avoid being collateral damage.
My concern is that soon we producers will have no choice but to stop producing any more than is necessary for our own subsistence. They will have made it impossible for us to produce abundantly. At least “Going Galt” is by choice. It is not easy and not clear how to accomplish it. We have no “Galt’s Gulch” to disappear to. We each have to do it in whatever way is possible.
Yes, you are correct. There will be communities that will form, where some of us might congregate, when our society has finally reached over-load. I will prepare and be ready to join one if it comes to that. I have a few skills, humble ones to be sure, but when the time comes I will be available.
