Bill, Please let me help you

Bill

Been watching to your show for a long time. Really enjoy your work. Became a member recently.

I can’t help but notice: your website is very, very slow. Please allow me to volunteer and help you.  I DO mean that I’ll provide service for free.

I’m an IT professional with 20+ years experience, company owner.

Tried to use your contact form, but I’m sure it went to spam.

Let me know

Anton

It would be great to turn this site into a resource … but with things as they are, it is too slow and I suspect additional traffic would exacerbate the issue.
If this site can be improved, I suspect it would see a lot more traffic.

Anton, we appreciate the offer. I don’t know why the contact form didn’t work for you, since I have received a couple of dozen notes through it today. Please send me a private message here with your email address and I’ll put you in touch with the man who’s working behind the scenes to fix a challenge that we’re learning was created by a contractor who took the money and ran.
To everyone else, I apologize for the load times, and will solve the problem.

I’m a new member too (as of about an hour ago) and I noticed the long load times too. As a fellow computer nerd, I did some poking around and it looks like you guys use WP Engine for hosting. They might be able to provide some support/insights too. I didn’t see any of the most common issues that I encounter with WordPress websites so my gut instinct is that the server specs and/or bandwidth might need to be bumped up.
I’m curious to see what suggestion(s) Anton has to see if we’re thinking alike or if I missed something.
Keep up the good work guys!

A piece of custom code appears to be the culprit. It’s designed to create a smooth registration and login process between the recurring payment system, the website, and the email alerts that Members get daily. At the moment, it’s generating several slow SQL queries. An expert plans today to purge a massive database table that seems to be part of the problem. We’ll see, and we’ll keep after it until it’s solved.
WP Engine, of course, would like to sell us a dedicated server for 20 times what we now pay, but we’re not yet convinced that we need it. If we discover otherwise, of course we’ll do it.

Awesome, thank you for the update, Scott! That sort of problem is above my paygrade but it’s nice to know about it as a possibility if I encounter something similar in my own work. I’m happy you guys were able to figure it out and really grateful you took the time to keep us informed. Congrats on hitting your membership goal too!
