I know that some (including Mr. Whittle) are worrying about all of the migration from blue states to red states that occurred last year. And it is a concern – but something else may be going on – I personally know 5 family groups that made that migration last year, and all were conservative, leaving the various blue states they had been staying in for various family/job/community reasons, to the red states they had always felt more aligned with in their values. The last shred of conservative resistance in our most liberal states has retreated, and is going to strengthen the states that still believe in rule of law, the constitution, and the bill of rights.
Which leads me to the strategy I’ve been thinking about the past few weeks. Posts such as this talk about conservative states being “bill-of-right” sanctuary states, but I think we can take it further. Make every freedom-minded state actually follow the model of the Free State project – last year’s (and this continuing year’s) mass migration already almost did so – get enough liberty minded people to challenge the violations of Federalism with the muscle of an entire state (and probably multiple states) behind it. Use the legal muscle of entire states in the Federal court.
Some will point out that the Supreme Court rejected hearing Texas’ case recently. Yes, but that was Texas trying to assert a legal outcome on other states. What would happen if a state like Texas was to instead sign legislation saying – as an example – that they view all Federal gun legislation as unconstitutional and will not stand for such bills to be enforced WITHIN the state of Texas?

I, for one, am very conservative/libertarian and would love to move from my leftie state (England) to a solid freedom-loving state …. no chance of me voting dem any time soon.
the state of England? LOL
anyway, I firmly believe in concentrating our forces, for any number of reasons.
To me to have states, whole communities, friends, neighbors, etc and the concomitant social structure, local institutions and businesses, indeed all of the society immediately around us where we live & work reflecting as best as we flawed humans can do it and with the federal gov’t being the way it is and to get worse for the foreseeable future,, well, this wholly American way of life binded by the American ideals we all try n hold to, well, there is no substitute for this for reasons both big and small.
In other words, believing and living the way Americans used to for most of our history. We don’t need to reinvent the wheel, in fact by sticking to our guns we can make that wheel better- another thing Americans did organically by the fact of this being America populated by “real” Americans.
Blue staters coming here will realize sooner rather than later that even if you don’t change, we ain’t gonna either. But we acquiesced over time to virtually any and everything they have done as the frog slowly was heated till boiling.
Maybe in time some, perhaps most of blue staters in our midst. will see the prosperity and simply sane way of living we create & sustain and we change them rather than allowing the reverse to happen.
we can inspire others with our example and offer real hope for a better way of life.. we are the selling pitch here!
Unshakeable personal, community, and state/ regional binding forces of Americanism will prevail if we ALL really believe it and practice it on a daily basis, for we must since our basic freedoms and way of life is far from guaranteed to last however much longer- like citizens used to take more or less for granted in this country
Bill and others worry about blue migration to our more successful, simply more enjoyable red areas to live, did you all notice that these ppl just decide to move en mass over time and eventually take over an area, a state, and don’t give a crap what it does to us.
I ask you: why are we, and should be going forward. any different?
I ask everybody here, including Bill who has voiced this concern
PS i personally will be ready and willing to move out of the decrepit state of NJ in the near future. I strongly urge fellow members who can make the move from blue to red areas to at least consider this if possible given their own life circumstances. In fact, forming organized, localized, “relocation groups” linked with other such groups across the US to pool resources & ideas to make the big step easier and better, to make the move over time to a generally designated area. We need mass migration movements if possible
The Orthodox Jewish communitiy move as one, or not at all. Too extreme for liberty-loving peeps like us? maybe… or maybe not. We have our own country – possibly, politically as a self-governing entity, not just separate geographically- to gain, after all. Not to lose.
well said. community is important, and I think the Jewish communities getting away to more republican areas will afford them much greater protection from the socialists/collectivists – groups who tend not to like Jews.
There was a joke, during the Tony Blair years, that we were the 51st State of America.
Also, you gotta shoot the dog
