In an act of utter cowardice, the University of Cambridge has disinvited the distinguished and popular professor Dr. Jordan Peterson from a visiting fellowship, where he was to give a series of lectures on various Biblical matters.
Apparently, members of the Cambridge University Students Union disapproved of Dr. Peterson because he harbored bad thoughts. James Delingpole, writing in Breitbart, describes it thus:
An article in the student rag Varsity went into more detail about the kind of WrongThink which made Peterson unfit to give lectures at their formerly distinguished university.
His crimes included: calling “white privilege” a “myth”; doubting the “scientific consensus” on climate change; claiming that men are victims of “gender oppression;” arguing that the patriarchy is “predicated on competence.”
Another reason might well be that the cry-bully leftists with which the university suppurates like a venereal sore objected to the intellectual drubbing Peterson administered to them last time he spoke at the Cambridge Union debating society. Their behaviour is straight out of the SJW playbook: if you can’t win an argument, close it down.
The Divinity Faculty even went out of their way to give the impression that it was Dr. Peterson who had asked to come to Cambridge, when in fact it was the other way around. And they did this publically, before they bothered to inform him directly and privately. Here is the tweet with which they defenstrated him:
Jordan Peterson requested a visiting fellowship at the Faculty of Divinity, and an initial offer has been rescinded after a further review.

I would also like to point out something else. As I already noted, the Divinity Faculty (@CamDivinity) tweeted their decision to rescind, consciously making this a public issue. This is inexcusable, in my estimation, given (1) that they did not equally publicize the initial agreement/invitation (which has to be considered an event of equal import) and (2) that they implied that I came cap-in-hand to the school for the fellowship. This is precisely the kind of half-truth particularly characteristic of those who deeply practice to deceive, as the fellowship offer was a consequence of mutual discussion between those who invited me to Cambridge in July and my subsequent formal request, and not something I had dreamed up on my own.
Here we have the case where one of the leading liberal arts institutions of the Western World, if not the leading institution — it was founded in 1209AD — has allowed the tantrums of a few spoiled and utterly indoctrinated children to ruin what undoubtedly would have been a valuable learning experience for serious students and faculty alike.
We’ve been here before, in the late 1960s when hairy radicals attacked and occupied administration offices of universities all across America. Rather than have them evicted, the supposed adults simply gave them everything they wanted. Professors and presidents alike took their hands off the tiller and resigned from the business of transporting civilization from the past forward into the choppy seas of the future, to the detriment of generations.
Listen up, you namby-pamby milksops! Walk into your offices like men and remember that you are the protectors and conservators of everything humankind has struggled to learn over millennia. Remember Ronald Reagan, who pointed out the we are never more than one generation away from ignorance.
You cannot let every malodorous homunculus triggered by anything uncomfortable they hear stand athwart history shouting “Nya, nya, nya, I can’t hear you!”
Grow a set, Cambridge, and re-invite Dr. Peterson so that he can speak of things you need to hear.

JBP is a great role model for temperament. He is justifiably pissed as hell at these clowns for the way they’ve treated him. Peterson doesn’t hit back at every lilliputian barb that comes his way, but when his return fire is both precise and withering.
I quote, “I think the Faculty of Divinity made a serious error of judgement in rescinding their offer to me (and I’m speaking about those unnamed persons who made that specific decision). I think they handled publicizing the rescindment in a manner that could hardly have been more narcissistic, self-congratulatory and devious.”

That’s where I got the quote in my post. For what it’s worth, I’ve asked Scott to increase the visibility of links (use underlines or brighter color). He agrees, but apparently they’re up to their backsides in alligators getting this site to go live. I’m willing to wait!
As long as these “leading liberal arts institutions of the Western World” can not face responsible civilized debate and suppress free speech, they must no longer be labeled as leading anything. It is time to pull funding from these institutions and insist they understand the meaning of education.
I agree completely. They are clearly running on fumes (and inhaling them).
