The words of the bible are deep, but Translations are tricky.
The classic example is the 6th commandment.
the Hebrew is “lo Teertzah”
That is a specific word for murder. There are other words in Hebrew for killing an animal, or killing a person without premeditation.
The translation of the Hebrew into the Greek was limited by Greek not having a distinct word differentiating killing from murder.
When the translators went from Greek to Latin, they chose the Latin word for kill, as opposed to Murder (perhaps they were trying to emphasize Christianity was more about Love than the Law) but either way, the correct translation is
“Thou shall not Murder”
not
“Thou shall not kill”
In the other direction; the Bible relates G-d says to Abraham “Please take your son, your only one, whom you love, yea, Isaac”
Seems like a lot of words to get to the point. Turns out, there is a whole conversation that Moses is asked to leave on the cutting room floor. Sure, Moses tells us, but that is part of the oral transmission, not the written word.
G-d says “please take your son”, and Abraham says “I have two sons”
G-d says “your only one” , Abraham says “Isaac is the only son of this woman and Ishmael is the only son of that woman “
G-d says “whom you love”, Abraham says “I love them both”.
finally G-d says “Isaac”
Why is G-d being oblique? to be kind to Abraham and not shock him with the request to offer (not telling Abraham to kill his son, but letting Abraham think that is the request, to give Abraham greater reward for his faith) his son. For Abraham, this was a greater test than most fathers of the time, because Abraham was the epitome of kindness.

An increased number of translations for a text does not increase the thruth-ness of the text. How many different translations of Romeo and Juliet are there?
What diseases are spread by cotton-poly blends? Wool-silk? Linen-hemp?

It is like hearing that the Laws of kashrus; Family purity; or even keeping the Sabbath (as proscribed by Jewish Law) are Christian practices.

I heard it too. The first time, I assumed he was talking about people who believe in the bible, but closer inspection (13:50) does have him talking about christians washing our hands and making sure you don’t wear certain fabrics.
I am going to extend grace, and assume he using a metaphor for “use these comments in the bible about washing and wearing and quarantine” to talk about common sense restrictions.
But the strict understanding of the quarantine in the bible has to do with a spiritual malady, not a primarily physical malady. The point of the quarantine for Tzaras (poorly translated as leprosy) was this person committed the sin of gossip, and if, after the Cohen had pointed out that this skin disease, or discoloration on his house or blanket was G-d telling him to pay attention to the sin of gossip, eventually, G-d would indicate that a quarantine was necessary to help him overcome this addiction.
The proof that Tzaras was not communicable disease was that if his house was suspect of a blight of Tzaras, before the Cohen pronounced the house as infected, the man was encouraged to take his belongings out of the house, so he could use them. Because anything in the house after the Cohen inspected and declared the house as infected with Tzaras could not be used until the quarantine was over. Seem like a bad way to control for a communicable disease.

The thing about establishing authority or officials is that they’re set up usually to solve a problem. When honest people take up the charge, once they solve the problem then they’re no longer considered to be needed. The snakes promise to solve the problem, or convince you that there is one where you didn’t know there was one and that they’re the right person to fix it. Once they lose trust or the problem doesn’t manifest itself, they invent a new problem. These are the politicians that we have. Cincinatus and George Washington go back to the farm, these criminals will die before they let go of that luxury and power.
The one word I didn’t hear in this episode was “caution.” (Yes I heard “careful” about too much trust.) I’m neither fearful nor trustful at first blush. I’m cautious — when I cross the street or meet new people. I am especially cautious about people that have power over me, which of course includes politicians. The more power they have the more cautious I become. I fully trust the young lady that owns the bodega that I frequent, and it’s reciprocated. I neither fear nor trust the policeman that stops me to talk — but I’m damned cautious about what I do, how I move or reply, because he has authority and a pistol. In ongoing relationships, trust, caution or fear is earned over time.
Matthew 10:16 is the scripture I kept thinking about.

One statement that Bill made really struck a cord with me. When he said that once trust is lost it’s extremely difficult to get back. In that same vein, I have always said that once respect is lost it is also very difficult to get back. When I first meet someone I will a ford them a degree of both trust and respect that I feel is due to every human. From that point it is up to them to convince me that they deserve more of either or less and in this. both trust and respect go hand in hand.
I recognize I have a “trust problem”.
I’ve not trusted the government for decades. (Too many years on active duty?)
My mistrust in the medical community started with the “care” of my mother before she passed, and was cemented with this rona debacle.
My mistrust in the judicial system started with a trial back in the 90’s, was reinforced as a juror in the early 2000’s, and was cemented with the last election fallout.
I mistrust the far left people I knew at one time, claiming to be “spiritual” people, but from their wanting better things for our world decided the best way was to force their “righteousness” on everyone . . . TDS and all.
My mistrust in the MSM has been a decades long one. Social media proved itself untrustworthy when they started (in tandem) censoring people.
I would like to see trust restored for all of these, of course.
I think the only way to do so (at least for govt. officials, judges, etc.) is to replace them at every level and go back to following our founding principles.
We can no longer cast our vote, then not take responsibility and demand accountability from those we elect to represent us.
As for the rest, let them know why you turn a deaf ear to them, turn off the TV, find alternate social media, support small business, and wean ourselves off of being on the smart phone 24/7.
No need to storm the castle if the inhabitants are denied supplies to thrive.

This presents a difficulty.
A difficulty indeed unless we form our own methods of comm., much like the French Resistance or similar.
We must also battle the forces without (China & others) on top of the traitors within.
The “Trust” problem is one I struggle with everyday.
Trust as you have so succinctly explained has been eroded in most avenues of the American life.
Accountability is one of the truest ways to earn back this trust.
Whom is supposed to hold Congress accountable?
How do we the people hold them accountable?
As for the social media propogandists, turning off and not listening is one way.
Telling masses of people(drones) that they have been lied to and getting them to believe, is darn near impossible.
Imagine AOC standing up and admitting that she lied, cheated, took bribes, colluded, and supported murderous acts against innocent American citizens and America itself.
This will happen on the day Christ returns, but I don’t see any other way for them to actually admit anything and be held accountable.
We The People are supposed to keep the Congress accountable. The checks and balances of 3 branches of govt. were designed to keep accountability and deter misuse of power, but it has to be used/enforced.
If we had a judicial system left, ROL left, checks and balances left, good politicians left (there are a few), and fair elections left, perhaps we could challenge them in those ways . . . but we do not. (Maybe in a few select states.)
We The People are charged with removing from office those who do not honor their oath nor no longer represent the people and/or are traitors and criminals.
If the recall of Newsom and the “hot water” of Cuomo are dealt with justly, we may have a chance on the state/local level. Otherwise I fear it will come to physical removal OR what we’ve seen over the last year . . . fear based acquiescence”.
A person cannot convince anyone of anything they don’t want to hear. Best to lead by example.
If a person cannot let go of their Amazon Prime subscription, cable TV with premium channels, instant gratification, to help save their country, then they don’t have what it takes anyway. IMO

Today was supposed to be the “Open Your Business” day all over the country. I’m researching how that went.
If we continue playing “simon says” with our “rulers” being Simon, then we will fall, just as Rome fell, just as most of Europe has fallen.
