I wonder if red states can become sanctuaries for violators of the 16th Amendment!!!
Would love to see each state tell citizens don’t send your tax dollars to Washington.
If these Democrat cities want to be “sanctuaries” for illegals, I say we make our states sanctuaries for our tax dollars!
Alternatively, if they insist upon allowing blue states to deduct their state taxes from income before paying federal taxes, why not just hike up the tax rate to 100% and have the state somehow distribute our income back to us?
Two can play at these games!!!
Of course, just like gerrymandering which is available to both parties, they’ll whine and cry and stomp their feet claiming, “It’s not fair!” when beaten at their own game.
Tough tuckus.
Of course, we run the risk of balkanization, but don’t we already have that to a degree? We’d all still be Americans. There would just be states run a lot better than others and not dependent on the federal goverment, which is the whole point.
I say starve the beast that is D.C.
We already have counties becoming “constitutional” counties and pledging not to enforced unconstitutional laws. Such displays of American independence are encouraging…

Of course, the 16th Amendment is part of the Constitution, thus the need for “sanctuary.”

Yes! Starving the beast is our only hope. The states are likely our only means. The stumbling block has been our caving as soon as DC threatens to cut off federal funding. If only we recognized that freeing ourselves from the the indirect, unseen costs of federal intrusion – regulatory compliance, unfunded mandates, etc., and now horrific inflation – would go a long way to make for such costly “free” federal funding.
It’s great to see these county boards standing for liberty. Refusing to comply is great. Criminalizing unconstitutional federal intrusion is even better:
“…Newton County [MO] might have adopted the strongest language in the entire country – going so far as to criminalize enforcement or cooperation with federal law enforcement who seek to enforce such policies…section 4a of the Newton County ordinance grants the sheriff’s department ‘full authority to make an arrest of any and all federal agents that violate state laws and enforce regulations’ that violate the Second Amendment. Finally, the ordinance bars anyone ‘who enforces or attempts to enforce any of the infringements identified in this ordinance’ from ‘being hired as a law enforcement officer or to supervise law enforcement officers in the county.”

Oh how I would love to see a federal agent arrested by a Newton County sheriff!!!!
Thank you for sharing Allison. I would be very DeSantis-like when answering any threats from the feds of funding cut-off’s. That’s ok. We’ll be fine. Then I’d increase the state income tax rate to 100% and rebate whatever I absolutely, positively didn’t need to spend, back to my citizens…or something similar, whatever it would take to make sure the money never left to state so we were forced to beg D.C. to send it back.
You’re very welcome. I like your ideas! If you can make the time, you may enjoy this latest interview with Don Huffines, candidate for TX Gov, challenging Greg Abbott in the GOP primary. Episode 926, Conservative Review podcast:
