I don’t think the role of journalists encompasses doing things that “work out for the benefit” of the readers/viewers/listeners. That is activist journalism, and we already have plenty of that.
What I really want from journalism is just straight facts, as they happened, with context where there is one, with different points of view dispassionately represented, if they are to be had.
And in the end that would be for the benefit of the audience.
Is that what we’re calling actual journalists these days? Right wing?
I watched the entire interview and I did not get the impression she was right wing. Instead, I got the impression of a journalist who thinks the most important things are verified facts.
Anything or anyone not pushing the narrative gets labeled Right Wing. But you are correct, I don’t think she is right of center, just wants Who What Where When How to be paramount. Why stays on the op-ed page.
That was so well put. It is interesting how normal objective reporting is considered right wing by the majority of the left press. This is the same reason the left can’t debate ideas. The debate is the center ground and any debate they lose because of logic failures. Emotions don’t care about logic, if they did I would not be on a diet and already be in great. LOL
This is a very interesting interview. I love the analogy she makes about the labels are cages. I’m for a cage free attitude in all things. Civil objectivity is the goal.
