It appears the CCP may have been awaiting an opportunity like this (no big carriers around) before testing the waters around Japan and Taiwan. Would they have attempted it if the TR were on station (meaning their CO hadn’t blown it)? Then there is the destroyer skipper who lied about his ship’s location so he wouldn’t have to report a breakdown. I get the impression something is seriously wrong with our Navy leadership from the SecNav on down. The Navy really needs to get its act together.
