Chris Matthews Walks Off MSNBC Hardball Set After “Retiring” in Wake of Remarks

Chris Matthews walks off the set of Hardball on MSNBC in mid-show after announcing he’s retiring, in the wake of allegations he’s made women uncomfortable with remarks about their looks, betlittled Elizabeth Warren’s presidential ambitions, and compared Bernie Sanders’ campaign to the Nazi invasion of France. Should conservatives applaud the accelerated exit of the bombastic Liberal septuagenarian, or raise concerns about the cancel culture that brought him down?

I agree with Edward Stowers below – Chris was done dirty. More importantly, I don’t care. You shouldn’t get a pass on mistreating women just because you’re an influential Leftist, follow a certain religion, or be confused about what sex you are. Let these bastards keep eating more of their own.
What’s the over/under until Matthews is working for Vox or has his own show on Vice TV?

I’m no fan of CM, but this is a direct attack on the First Amendment. CM has the same First Amendment rights as Bill Whittle. I like the analogy of Winston Smith; very appropriate.

Welcome back, Bill! and the gang, I hope…
Been there, done that with the whole sexual harassment scenario. It amazed me with the MeToo movement that it was happening now, when sexual harassment prevention policies and reschooling have been around for decades now, at least as long as I’ve been working (35 yrs). We would get annual training (this was in the fed gov’t). Cases would come up and be worked thru…
But I guess in Hollywood and the Democratic Party, it was OK to harass and attack as long as you outwardly did the right thing, whatever that was (Pres. Clinton).

I think this is one of those “can’t change human nature” or “a leopard doesn’t change his spots”. Certain people of a certain nature are just going to act in certain ways, and either they grow the discipline to stop themselves or someone else stops them. Sometimes that is a stern “NO!” and other times its a bullet from an angry husband who catches him in the act (though now I guess that could be an angry wife with that Rep from California, though since she swung both ways could be both a husband AND wife.)

Could not have happened to a more deserving person. Looks like the gods are smiling upon us and I am an Atheist. More likely it’s the “luck” of the draw. If we are very lucky, this will cause the MSM to lock down and do every thing totally wrong rather than only 70% of the way.

So happy your are back….and well. I agree with you on the ‘clutching of pearls” issue. Those delicate little flowers can throw vicious feedback and attack. But they do it not by themselves but by media or attorneys. For fame, or whatever. And it is always waaay after the fact. I don’t believe in the Me, Too movement. It has made the men in this world weak and afraid to be men.

Socialism IS a catastrophe. There, had to get that out. That’s simply truth. There are decades of history to prove it.
I was not a fan of Matthews. He irritated me. He was a very biased reporter on a very biased network. But that said, the way MSNBC treated him was wrong. I think he should never have apologized, as his analogy was heartfelt and real to him, then misconstrued by Bernie supporters. Matthews said something that felt true in his heart, and he was not comparing Bernie to “Nazis,” it was comparing the disaster of the fall of France when the Germans marched into Versailles and forced the French to surrender in the very train car the Germans had been forced to surrender in at Treaty of Versailles at the end of WWI. If MSNBC told him to apologize, he should have told them no and just left. Apologizing was a mistake. It made him look weak, and gave righteousness to the network. The Left then, as it always do to those who fall out of Communist favor, piled on to kick him when he was down and vulnerable.
The Democrat party has moved so far to the fanatical left that a moderate, reasonable Democrat has no chance of even winning the nomination anymore; so far left that we now have a masked Communist about to run for president. These are the same people we fought in the Cold War, only now they are our own people. The Far Left and the Democrats are about to come to a parting of ways, I think, and inner battle I think will fracture the party. The traditional Democrats will strike back and find a way, through plots and cheats, to hit back at Bernie, as the old part of the party do not want a Communist representing them and will work to deny him the nomination. That is wrong in terms of fair play, but probably better for America. I’m not sorry to see Chris gone, but at least he was predictable and sometimes insightful. He was a known factor. Whoever replaces him will just be a mouthpiece saying what MSNBC tells them to say. As Scott said, the best thing they could have done to look “unbiased” was to let Matthews play Crowder: bring on people who disagree and have him say “prove me wrong.” That would be fair discussion and raise ratings. The danger was that no one could prove him wrong, and that truth is why he had to go. Comrades of the Party are not allowed to go against official propaganda of the party. While the eventual loss of Matthews on MSNBC was inevitable, the way it was done was unforgiveable, even to me, a guy who is no fan of Chris Matthews. Even when a political opponent is removed, I prefer some level of fair play to be due. It wasn’t given to him, and he has served them long and well. Trust not the Left, they eat their own. MSNBC is a liberal propaganda machine, not a legitimate news service.

Our prayers are answered. So glad you are back, Bill. Please pace yourself. We need you desperately during this election year. And again, thank you, Scott for keeping us updated.

The problem of excessive oversensitivity in the workplace has been exacerbated by providing favoritism toward women and “minorities” in hiring. I cringe every time that I hear someone say, “We need to keep the female numbers up during the hiring process.”

“How is it that I’m not in love with you already?”

I’m thinking a little context is in order here, because, just on the face of it, I don’t see what is so demeaning. In some context it might even be taken as a compliment. Or am I just showing my age?

It’s good to have you back, Bill. I suffered terribly last week from withdrawal. So now I’ve had my fix and I’m fine again.

Is that a demeaning comment? If so, I apologize profusely! Please don’t dismember me!!!

Wow, I had no idea how harsh the punishment is for demeaning comments on this site. Kick us out of the club would be one thing, but chopping off body parts seems a tad excessive. πŸ˜‰
