Introverts rule in a quarantine. lol.

I’ve been practicing self-quarantine for years. I just thought I was anti-social…
All three touched their own faces during the video – I’m going to miss those guys…
It’s only because we can’t afford to hire others to touch our faces.
I’m old enough to remember when we called “self quarantine”, Was called “you’re sick, stay home.”
I wish they’d stop with the constant press conferences. It’s getting annoying now. Seems as if it’s twice a day now. It’s just the flu. Nothing to see here folks. It’s just the flu.
Thank you. I’ve only been casually Paying attention attention. I’ve not seen anything telling me what will happen to me if I do catch it but a LOT of hair-on-fire fear-mongering, OMG OMG its spreading like wild fire! OMG OMG!!!
A cursory look Into the fatalities have been old folks w/ pre-existing respiratory or bad respiratory habits (smoking). W/ the rare outliers being medical workers w/ constant exposure to Flu Manchu. In China or Iran. I got a bit concerned when I read yesterday that Italy had 200 deaths in a day. Until I found out the average age in Italy is in the high 40s. And all the deaths were in the north where the average age is even higher. Also that Italians, specially older ones, smoke like chimneys.
I’m 51. In good health. Don’t smoke. Can anyone tell me what’ll likely happen to me if I get Flu Manchu? Cause it sounds like it’d range from either a bad cold or… the flu. I’ve had that. Slept for 3 days, drank a lot of water, was all better by the end of the week. This informationless fear mongering and just plain obsession is getting old.
Facts about the coronavirus in the US: At least 26 of the 31 deaths in the US came from ONE part of one state, the Seattle area of Washington State. At least 19 of those came from ONE rehab care home that cares for sick people after they leave the hospital after things like strokes and heart attacks. All of the deaths in Snohomish county (the next county over) had been in residence at the care home when the virus was going around. Ten other long-term care homes in the Seattle area have been found to have cases of coronavirus and account for ALL of the other Washington deaths. This is at least 84% of the US deaths to date.
People who live in the Seattle area have chronic deficiencies like vitamin D deficiency due to the crazy amount of cloud cover they have. If vitamin D has anything to do with increasing your immunity to this disease, these people would be more at risk than most of the rest of the nation. Just on the other side of the mountains, we have not had any deaths from the virus. The schools have gone through some conniptions due to a couple of kids testing positive, but all have recovered and life has returned to normal (everywhere except in the TP aisle of the grocery store). Spring is coming on and the sun is getting strong. So my advice is turn of the news, go outside and enjoy the sun. The worst thing you can do is be cooped up in a airplane, cruise ship or hospital unless you’re in respiratory distress and need oxygen.
Ok, now it’s 26 deaths in King county, 2 in Snohomish county and 1 in Grant county (the cases outside of King county were also associated with the rehab home in King county). So Washington state is up to 29 deaths, but you get the picture.
How I fight fear at home? 1. Turn off the news. I don’t even listen to Fox News much any more because some of them seem to be infected with fear. Same with some Youtubers. 2. Get the real facts. I’ve been watching the statistics amalgamation site https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/. Once in a while when I get interested in a particular statistical change, I will also click on the source they list.
One interesting thing to note: Right now, the US has 3.4 cases per million people (as listed on the site). And it is impossible for anyone to know a million people. There are 31 deaths listing in the US from this. Of those something like 26 of them come from one part of one state…the west coast of Washington state (Seattle area). Of that number, at least 19 of the deaths are from ONE rehabilitation care home where people go to recover and rehabilitate from other illnesses like a stroke or heart attack after they leave the hospital. There are 10 other long-term care homes in the Seattle area testing positive. The rest of the Washington State deaths have come from these. Washington State had a rabid leftist governor who is trying to lock the state down because people in care homes are dying from COMPLICATIONS (read they got coronavirus and some other disease like influenza) of the virus.
All of these people live in an area that has way too much cloud cover. If vitamin D is at all effective in helping someone fight off coronavirus…people in that area would be naturally deficient. Just on the other side of the mountains, we have no problems with people dying. The schools went through some conniptions when a couple of kids tested positive, but everyone has recovered as well as can be expected and life is back to normal. Spring is coming on quickly as is the sunshine. This is the reality of the “zombie apocalypse” happening in the US. Old sick people need the best care we can give them, so regular folks need to stay away from them and away from the hospitals, turn off the news and go out and enjoy the sun.
How Serious is the Coronavirus? Infectious Disease Expert Michael Osterholm Explains | Joe Rogan
Osterholm seems to like skating right along the edge of open fear-mongering. See what he was talking about with Ebola and Avian Flu.
Thanks RG. That does provide some perspective on the guy’s credibility. Anyone not well known going on Rogan’s show is guaranteed to get a lot of exposure and further opportunities afterwards
The problem with expected to be taught how to think critically is knowing that your teachers know what they are doing or are teaching you crap. That takes being able to think critically in the first place.
The most you can expect is that a few teachers can help you to be a more effective and capable critical thinker. You must, on your own, have some capability to be an effective critical thinker to start with. It’s rather like pulling yourself off the ground by pulling your own boot straps. It helps to have someone who helps but you have to do the work of pulling.
This is one of the fundamental problems we individual humans have to solve before we can survive as a human. If there is anything to the original sin idea, it is the refusal to work on this problem and just accept what “everyone knows”. My experience it that what “everyone knows” is what “everyone knows” which isn’t much. You have to go outside that tiny box just to begin the journey toward being able to think critically. Scary? Yes. Rewarding? Yes! Worth it? Definitely yes!!!
Not discussing the virus itself, but the fear-mongering. This virus has been around a while; one version even has a patent. Whether the virus occurred naturally in Wuhan or was deliberately released by nefarious actors is irrelevant. But the fear-mongering is a deliberate effort by deep state actors being used for political purposes. It us an attempt by the unelected leaders who run the major industry, the cabal, to attempt to change political consequences. It is to shut down the protests in Hong Kong and the Yellow shirts in France. In the US, 7 corporations own all of the major news media: Comcast, which owns NBC and MSNBC; Newscorp, which owns Fox; Disney which owns ABC; Time-Warner which owns CNN; CBS-Paramount which owns CBS and Amazon. With the possible exception of Newscorp, all are far-left leaning organizations. They are tools of the Deep State.
The Deep State has tried every possible way to get rid of Trump and keep control of the world. They tried Russia collusion and failed. They tried Obstruction of Justice and failed. They tried chemical attacks in Syria, a nuclear confrontation with North Korea, and a fight with Iran to get Trump into a major war to make him seem a war monger. All failed. They tried Ukraine corruption and even an Impeachment, and those failed too. The DOJ is coming after them, investigations are under way, and nothing is working to call them off, so the only way left to destroy Trump’s administration is to collapse the stock market and create an economic panic. This is why the major news media is pushing this fear so hard; fear that is overblown and full of hyperbole because the Leftist masters of the news corporations are in bed with the deep state and the Leftists. It won’t work in the end. Already people are starting to laugh at it. In Tennessee, they have introduced a bill to officially declare CNN and the New York Times “fake news.” People will wake up and they will be very angry at the major news media eventually for crying wolf so loud over very little. Remember, they pushed the same kinds of ridiculous fears with the Y2K situation in 2000 and the Mayan calendar end-of-the-world thing in 2012. Ignore the fear. Don’t listen and you won’t be scared. As Roosevelt once said, all we need fear is fear itself. Humor is the best way to fight the Deep State’s fear-mongering mass media. That and focusing on putting the actual evil ones in the DS who have broken laws in prison.
You said it for me. Why the spread of fear …. Trump 2020.
What adds some humor to this whole thing for me are the people who think this will tank Trumps presidency. Unless I am missing something and society has been dumbed down to the point where they believe Trump caused this or ignored it I don’t think tank will happen.
Thoughts:
Most anybody who has money invested has seen their net worth decline significantly over the last 2 weeks due to panic and market drops. Panic breeds panic, and it will take some fiscal intelligence to bring things back.
I would challenge any of these media people to name the democrat and state their related fiscal policy that will bring things back more quickly than Trump will (which is MY personal goal…. get past this). Biden (barely knows his own name or what he is running for), Bernie (wants take more of what you no longer have).
As far as I can see electing ANY democrat over Trump would be a even more of a disaster. Imagine having 50 of your friends over to your house. Some Terrorists board up the house from outside trapping everyone inside, then start a fire. The house starts to get smokey inside. Each person inside has a cell phone with two numbers. One number is the Trump fire department. The other number is the Democrat Starbucks. The response to the fire/rescue will come from whoever gets the most calls.
I know which number I am going to call, I have already seen the Trump fire department fight 100’s fires and WIN over the last 4 years. NO question about it.
I don’t fear the novel corona virus, I respect it. Just as I respect any variety of influenza only more so. I am almost 83, have been diabetic, and am extremely vulnerable to upper respiratory infection. Thus, if I want to continue living I must avoid contracting influenza of any kind. Hence, I do those things necessary to avoid exposure to infection.
The sane response is to protect yourself proportionally to your vulnerability. Panic and over reaction is likely the worst response possible. Second only to evading the issue completely.
I keep my vaccinations up to date: influenza and pneumonia. I don’t travel in trains, planes, or buses during influenza season. I avoid going to venues where masses of people congregate. I frequently wash my hands, eat as healthily as I can, stay rested as possible, and don’t go out into the public unless it is absolutely necessary. Any traveling to do things and talk to people is done over the internet. For the novel corona virus, I will simply double down on the process.
All I can say is “so far so good”. I haven’t had a serious problem from influenza for almost two decades. For the novel corona virus, time will tell. If it gets as bad as a zombie apocalypse, I likely won’t survive.
My theory is live as best you can as freely as you can then, in the end, have no regrets. I am proud of what I have done and accomplished. I still have more to do so I want to continue living but ….
I think a big problem is that we are not taught how to assess and manage risk any more, what with our bubble wrapped culture. So now any risk has people running around with their hair on fire. People also need to find their sense of humour and the positives in this. That cringing dinner or visit to the in-laws you’ve been dreading? Now is your chance to cry off. As for stock piling, now is the time to stockpile what REALLY matters: steak, single malt, ammo, chocolate… all those things you want to get but feel you have to justify. Just tell yourself it is in case of the coronapocalypse that you need 2,000 rounds, 30 day aged sirloin, and several bottles of the good stuff. And spending a weekend with your partner’s ghastly family is probably not a good idea right now. Because virus.
