Digitally Absconding the 4th Amendment

Hello Whittle-Fans & Whittle Crew,

Not sure if you keep eyes on Legislation, but there is a dangerous bill that is making its way through Congress. It is called the EARN IT Act. It would require companies to implement scanning software so the government can see Encrypted Messages all under the Red herring of “Protecting the Children”. This seems to be an unabashed Digital absconding of the 4th Amendment. Federal Officials on both sides of the Aisle (AG Bill Barr and Fmr CIA Director John Brennan) expressed desires to have access to encypted communications through a ‘backdoor’ which would make the concept of Encryption null and void.

Have not heard many conservatives comment on this issue, so I am raising awareness of this bill to you all.

Bill Number  – S.3398

So… this is a bill that preceded Trump’s recent threat to remove 203 protections? (the videos were all dated March 2020). Interesting…
After watching your 3 provided video’s (haven’t read the bill, I’m not up to legalese… boring!), I see the real issue (is it? I don’t know) is removing encryption and/or giving NSA/FBI/etc backdoor into de-encryption, ostensibly for getting after child pornographers.
This reminds me so much of 1) the Patriot Act, and 2) the San Bernardino terrorists who had an iPhone that couldn’t be cracked. At the time (#2), there was a big controversy on whether Apple should cave to the gov’t and allow them access to the data on the phone.
The only difference I see (at this point, w/o full info) is that w/ the Patriot Act, we were going after terrorists, whereas w/ this bill, we’re going after child pornographers.
Hopefully, this bill will be fully discussed in the Senate, with much info help from citizens, as we know our Senators are not fully cognizant of the issues, and tend to depend on lobbyists to fill them in…

Addendum – My worry is that there will be more attention on this bad bill with the increase in protests in order to “easily” arrest/stop rioters. They should be stopped, but I argue there are better and SIGNIFICANTLY constitutional ways to handle this issue
