‘Impending doom’ means that we are all going to die eventually. By what means and age we die is evidential. Is it by disease or violence? Which one strikes us? I have seen both. ‘Impending doom’ always hovers.

I somewhat remember someone, do not remember who or in what position (and it could very well have been Bill, in a Firewall since this predates the trinity shows) saying, virtually, to the Governor of Louisiana about crying on camera talking about the devastation of Hurricane Katrina that “you cannot cry, it is your job NOT to cry. You hold it in, make your announcements and when you are in private, there you cry”… or words to that effect.
We need leaders, not tutors or a friend to hold our hand. With our system of government we really do need cheerleaders of a sort, that say We Can Do This (odd how a prior president got elected saying that and people seem to be criticizing the last (current) one for saying something similar). The “We have nothing to fear” and “we will fight them on the beaches” kind of speeches might be trite Rah Rah at times, but they are needed. Unless of course there is some science this Director isn’t giving us that shows we are all really doomed… in which case false hope is probably better than none at all (just not the false “Hope” snake oil that got the prior president elected).

This morning, before I even watched this R/A, I happened upon a March 3, 2020 Bloomberg interview of the WHO spokesman at the time talking about how it’s now apparent there is a 2% mortality rate and focused on the elderly and infirm. That most of the victims will have a mild case.

In a few months, those who were vaccinated may suffer serious health problems, side effects from the so-called vaccine. That pending doom will be blamed on a mutated strain of the COVID virus, not the vaccines.
I was vaccinated and shortly thereafter spent an entire month in a recovery facility with pneumonia. Is there a connection? I’ll let you decide.
Pneumonia is a bacterial illness and the C19 vaccine is for a virus. They’re not related in any way to each other and the vaccination would not have prevented your pneumonia nor caused a bacterial infection like pneumonia.
If there’s a connection at all it’s that you picked up the pneumonia bacillus when you went out to get your vaccination.
There is no reported statistically significant incidence regarding of post vaccination pneumonia infections. If you have some sort of information along those lines I’d love to see it. I’m trying to be very thorough about the situation with the C19 vaccination(s).

Catching a disease in a hospital or other care facility that you did not have going on is a “nosocomial” disease. Not at all uncommon.
I didn’t get pneumonia in a care facility. I went there after I came down with it.

You are actually in more danger of picking up something else while out getting vaccinated than you are in from the vaccine itself. For me, that was the biggest crowd of strangers I’ve been around in a long time, since before C19 came along even. Of course the fact that I don’t get out much anyway has a lot to do with that.
I had some muscle and joint aches and pains which cropped up a day or so after I got the Pfizer Dose #1. Those are common for me when I get a flu shot too, so I didn’t pay much attention to them and they quit after a couple days. This wasn’t severe enough to report as a side effect of the vaccination.
Anyone who experiences any significant side effects from the vaccination should report them. “Significant” means severe enough to interfere with your daily routine or marked and obvious reaction at the injection site. Please don’t hesitate to do this because it’s important to gather all the information possible on these vaccines.
You have to look up where to report side effects and reactions because each manufacturer has its own reporting system. Just do a web search on “report side effects of _______ (Pfizer, Moderna, etc.) COVID vaccine.
I’m not afraid of COVID or the vaccine. I have a very, highly robust immune system and I haven’t had so much as a cold in a decade or more. This is in spite of the presence of a school age (now college age) boy who like all other kids is a germ bag that brings every bug he can find home from school and does his best to share it with the family.
Even so, I get a flu shot every year. I’m around my brother-in-law a lot who is very susceptible to health issues. Also I just don’t want to get sick and waste days of my life being ill and recovering. So I get vaccinated for seasonal illnesses and have done so for as long as they’ve been available. On top of that I’ve been all over the world (probably part of the reason for my strong immune system) and have been vaccinated at one time or another for just about every disease known to man that a vaccine is available for. I’m not dead, have not grown an extra head nor become a zombie … Yet.
This in a nutshell. Mrs Ron was a primary school teacher for 30+ years. She never got sick. Exposed to everything but her immune system cranks. Me and little Ronette, we caught what she brought home. So I get flu shots every year and keep my Hep C and others up to date to keep my first aid certs active.
Was actually relatively impressed with the CVS where I got vaccinated. They had chairs spaced around the store for people to dwell to see if anyone had a reaction to the shot. I asked one of the folks in charge who also stated, much as you did, that with people being so isolated the past year, clients were likely to catch something else from being in a crowd so they wanted to space people out for that reason. Made sense so I knew he wasn’t a government employee
The reason Mrs. Ron has such an iron bound immune system is probably because she was constantly exposed and creating immunity to the bugs that saturate the school system where she spent her days.
An immune system is like a muscle in that if it’s exercised it grows stronger.

I probably come off to some people on this site as being very hawkish about getting the C19 vaccination. That’s actually not true. It’s not true because I refuse to be a prisoner to the tyranny of two extremes. I don’t think every single person needs to be vaccinated and I don’t think no one should be vaccinated because of a mythical danger to grow a second head thereby.
I studied the pros and cons, did a bunch of reading, looked up a lot of claims about the vaccine(s) and found them to be mistaken, untrue or outright lies, and while I have a serious immune system I have very little tolerance for willful stupidity so … Oh, and I also am not a bit shy about stating my opinions, as you’ve no doubt noticed.
I’m also constantly aware of my own confirmation bias’ and do my best to nullify that as much as I can. I’m predisposed to believe certain things but that is because of personal experience and due diligence regarding topics with which I’m not intimately conversant. My opinions are based on things that I’ve seen and things I’ve educated myself on as fairly and accurately as I’m able, and so carry as much validity as I can muster. I don’t read something ghastly and assume it’s a written-in-stone fact and I have a very good sense of smell for things that are Rotten in Denmark. (As an ethnic Dane I love using that expression.)
Which brings me full circle back to Barbara Matz’s post to which I replied. Having seen her posts in here for a while now I was fairly confident that she would understand and accept reason if it were presented to her. The original post in this thread? Yeah not so much.
Her immune system is completely due to the myriad of bugs she has been in contact with over the years. She got the flu once the first year we met, didn’t ever really get sick again. It is like that old Carlin routine about swimming in the Hudson River as kids and no one in his neighborhood ever got polio.

Well actually pneumonia is bleeding in the lungs and many things can cause it, most common of which is a bacterial infection however inhaling salt water or foreign substances like coal dust can cause it. Why do you think it can’t be caused by a virus?
Well actually pneumonia is NOT* “bleeding in the lungs”, according to Mayo Clinic, which I assume most reasonable people would allow as a canonical authority, the definition of pneumonia is —
“Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs. The air sacs may fill with fluid or pus (purulent material), causing cough with phlegm or pus, fever, chills, and difficulty breathing.”
Bleeding in the lungs is a whole ‘nother critter. While pulmonary hemorrhage and hemoptysis, (coughing up blood) may accompany a pneumonia infection it is not the definition of a pneumonia infection. Nor is the occurrence of pulmonary hemorrhage or hemoptysis a diagnostic indication of pneumonia in all cases. You can have a condition that causes you to bleed in your lungs without having pneumonia and you can have pneumonia without bleeding in the lungs. I.E. tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, tumors in lung tissue, pulmonary hypertension, etc. may all involve bleeding in the lungs without any pneumonia at all.
A virus can be the responsible agent for a pneumonia infection though it is rarer than bacterial pneumonia and much, much harder to treat. Coal dust, sea water and other non-biological agents may well be the enabler for an pneumonia infection but they are not themselves the causative infectious agent that creates pneumonia. Those things merely weaken or damage lung tissue to the point where an infectious organism can take root and spread becoming a full blown case of pneumonia.
The important takeaway is “infectious organism”, it takes a bacteria, a virus or a fungus to cause pneumonia. The most common infectious organism by far is bacterial though there are other infectious organisms that can be responsible for a case of pneumonia.
I was trying to keep things simple for the purposes of this discussion. I should have said “Pneumonia is most often a bacterial illness …” and everything else I said is factual. I could have been more specific, I could have written an even longer post than I did. I employed brevity at the expense of precise accuracy, which I am now remedying with a more detailed explanation.
If you like more precise, detailed explanations just ask and I’ll be happy to supply them after I answer the point, which in this case was about Barbara’s vaccination for C19.
The vaccine did not cause Barbara’s month long stay in the hospital for pneumonia. There is no evidence I’ve been able to find of the vaccine causing pneumonia in those who have been vaccinated. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. That was the point of my reply to Barbara, not the exploration of obscure or unrelated causes of pneumonia.

Sorry, I am guilty of repeating something I was told without doing my own research. I apologize for being an ass. I was hospitalized for 3 days with septic pneumonia from an unknown cause and after being pumped so full of intravenous antibiotics that they killed every life form in my body, including the good ones, I survived. The doctor told me I was lucky to come in when I did because if I hadn’t, I would have been dead in another 3 days. This was a sudden incident and the scariest thing I’ve even been through. This all came on in 24 hours and the cause is still unknown, but it was just before Covid 19 was known to exist. Coincidence? Who knows.
In a few months we’ll see if you’re right. I doubt it either way. I don’t see where there’s evidence that in a few months there’s going to be widespread serious health issues caused by the vaccine and I cannot imagine any sort of ruse that could successfully blame such a thing on C19 instead of the vaccine. Hell, you’re already blaming the vaccine and it hasn’t done what you’re blaming it for yet. It will be a nearly impossible trick to blame C19 for what the vaccine does, if it does anything.
A much more likely explanation for CDC Director Rochelle Walensky’s “sense of impending doom” is a bad case of hemorrhoids she’s gotten from bending over so far for the political Left..

It is likely there are actually more like 300+ people with that kind of experience who are not yet “too old”. Given half are Democrats, that still leaves a large number of Republican office holders who should be able to step up with solid public communication skills, etc. We should not have to rely solely on DeSantis, or maybe Tom Cotton, Ted Cruz, and a few other congressional voices, to bring the message and response back against this pandemic of declining morality, character, courage, and vision.

It couldn’t happen in the past for the vast majority of women to enter into the higher realms, mainly due to biological facts, but they had infinite influence in the background, so every decision coming out of a home was in most cases a bi decision. Even when the biological facts were manipulated to a sort of equality it still took years of discrimination and manipulation to get women where it was thought they wanted to be. It isn’t over yet, this does give a sense of pending doom.
Scaring the public is the objective. Dave Cullen put out a good video today about how the state is using The Plandemic to strip away individuality and wed people to the state itself. And he made it sound a lot less tinfoil hattish than I just did =8^)
