Self explanatory, and no, the live 27 minute version of Dazed and Confused won’t make the cuts. Songs must be originally long! Anywho… onward!
When a buddy of mine DJ’d at our college radio station, if you ever heard this during his show it was a safe bet that the DJ needed a bathroom break
My one big complaint about this song is that its powerfuel lyrics, incredibly relevant today, are pushed so far back that they’re damned near indecipherable. That’s why a version with lyrics is the chosen link:
And my favorite Zep song of all time. Let’s roll with the iconic Knebworth performance:
Got a long Zep song you think is better – who ya got?

Thank you for sharing and posting. I’ll add these to my Zeppelin playlist!
I’ve always been a fan of Zeppelin though probably more casual than yourself. Stairway’s always been in my top ten, but that’s not very original. It’s almost like saying you like ice cream.
I was more of an 80’s child when it came to music, so Guns ‘n’ Roses blasting on the scene to fill a rock void while ejecting Madonna and Cyndi Lauper from the top of the charts thereby saving my teenage years enshrined them as my favorite group. So they’d be it if I were pressed to name one. Motley Crue has always been another favorite, though my interests cover the music spectrum. In short, I appreciate great music in all of its forms.
Hard for me to pick a favorite from among the classic rock legends. So much talent. I listen to it all. Bowie, Joplin, Hendrix, Aerosmith (old and newer), Rush, Stones, the Dead. Then there’s the whole punk scene. Motown. Country. Blues. Jazz. Classical. Hip hop I’ve enjoyed, though I hate the gangsta rap consumed with money and ho’s. So unoriginal.
Spotify is awesome for new discoveries. I’m like a kid in a candy store. I’m gradually going back through the catalogs of classic groups and finding songs that didn’t get much air time on the radio.
In my opinion, we need more posts like this for pure fun and enjoyment to relax and take our minds off the issues of the day. I don’t know if it warrants dedicated forums for music, cigars, guns, whiskey, cars, etc. just yet. Sometimes it’s better to let it fly.
I guess if the blog is overwhelmed with apolitical posts, then that would the time to consider it. Either that or at least two or three of us with a common passion setting up a forum to make regular contributions. It would be a fun way to attract new Whittlerians and keep them coming back to visit.
The challenge would be not having the forum section end up like a magazine rack at Barnes and Noble. There’s a publication for damn near everything.
Thank you again for taking the time to share a part of your life outside politics.
Thanks for the response! Steve used to do Friday Night Videos over on PJM, and I bugged him a few times to start it up again here. Since he didn’t, I figured I’d take advantage of our blog and start it up myself. Weekends are good for some lighter fare, like what they do at Ace of Spades. Hopefully we’ll see more like this
I hope so too. At a certain point, I grow tired of history and politics.
Not music, but I watched a great movie this weekend. “The Magic of Belle Isle.” Always been a fan of Morgan Freeman, and he did not disappoint. Virginia Madsen was great too. So were the younger girls. Best parts were the original storyline and no social justice lecture!
Available on tubitv.com for free! Commercials sure, but sparingly.
They’ve got a couple other of my older favorites too. “Heartbreak Ridge” and “The Bucket List.” They have “Caddyshack,” but I can almost recite the movie from memory at this point, at least the famous parts.
As with the other free services, they have some duds, but hey. Nothing ventured nothing gained. “Stonehearst Asylum” turned out to be a good one. “Now You See Me” was another.
I’ve become a fan of Jeanne Robertson as a comedienne. Good-natured humor and hilarious.
That’s all for now. Looking forward to more Friday night videos!
Heartbreak Ridge is one of the most quotable movies of all time! I’m looking foir the day some Nimrod makes me listen to their preferred pronouns. I’ll respond with mine – The Earl of Funk, The Duke of Cool, The Ayatollah of RockNRolla!
LOL. Very true! Very true!!!
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
Some of the best advice ever!
My boy is conditioned to finish my sentence when I say “Improvise, adapt,…”
Well done sir. Well done.
