If you want young people to understand the dangers of Progressivism…give it to them. California bans gaming PCs with powerful graphics cards to solve the energy crisis, because it’s gamers who suck up all of the power…right?

When will they outlaw air conditioners
If someone could create a hat with solar panels and wind turbine on top all our problems would be solved.
Good video, I am glad I am not a gamer in one of these states.
I’m glad I bought my gaming laptop last year. (Not for gaming — I wanted to be sure I had enough power for Zoom meetings from the hospital.)
Very nice, Bill A good warning for us all.

And I don’t think turkey bacon (or worse, tofu bacon) will cut it.
Tofu Bacon??
You may be on to something!
I’ve seen recipes for vegan bacon. Start with thinly sliced carrot or eggplant, and add salt, sugar, and liquid smoke, then broil in the oven.
I still haven’t seen any recipes for turning beef into imitation broccoli, though.
What a HOOT!!! “Turning beef into imitation broccoli”!!!!
As a former participant in vertical integration contract farming, I can see the benefits in poultry and swine production. The drawbacks are crowding and infection.
IF your country is going to produce the chicken and pork that is required/demanded, then vertical integration provides an avenue for solution. The system favors the integrator/corporation. At least that was my experience/observation.
I seem to remember Arby’s coming up with an imitation carrot

your point is well stated… all things are relative … relative to your experience… “stove is hot-don’t touch the stove” has great relevance to one experienced with hot stoves… not so with those lacking the same first hand knowledge…. unfortunately we all get to participate in the current drive thru amerikan-marxism…. even those who see where it ends…. and can’t persuade the great hordes rolling that way…
Unfortunately with this headline, not all is as it seems. California isn’t banning gaming computers, they are implementing rules on their power use when idle. there are a couple good videos from trusted sources on youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOHKLyjVSuE Gamers Nexus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5fc5ZX6Kzk Jayz Two Cents
These will explain things a little better as to what is being done.
Good to know. But there are still computers that cannot be shipped to certain states, thus reducing choice. And oddly enough, lower graphic, lower expandable (ie. Cheaper) would not be able to be shipped. “If you jump through these hoops, and get a more expensive system, you can have it. Otherwise, peon, no computer for you.”
And the difference is…?
Why TF they need to regulate the 10 Wh (*) a computer picks up a day while idle when it picks up 5000 Wh the same day while doing something? And the A/C in the same room picking up multiple of that?
I watched the 2nd video, the guy did not mention any rationale or purpose or anything.
(*) numbers are illustrations
He didn’t make the videos to defend what the California government is doing, he stated himself he didnt care for it. I dont care for the things they do either, but a blanket quote of “Gaming computers are banned!” is wrong. What they seem to be doing, IMHO, is to reduce power used when idle. Jayz Two Cents did another video where he showed a monitor was using 14 watts when it was in idle mode. If a person is sitting at the computer the Ca.gov doesn’t seem to care about the power draw, but when its idle they do. Jayz followup video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gxs5YxY2xXI
So instead of “gaming” computers they ban random computers for no other reason than burning dollars to save cents. Great, point taken.
Bill may want these morons to get the tyranny for which they voted, but I want to provide a warning to all who would steal from me: you will be shot, dead during your attempt.
