HotAir.com used to be one of my go-to spots for conservative news. No more. So I thought I’d share with you a parting comment on one of their screeds – basically an open Goodbye letter – to them:
I write the following in sadness to the principals and staff at HotAir. It comes with no condescension or snark.
Prior to this past Presidential election season, I considered myself a proud little-c “conservative”. As such, I reconciled the social and physical coercions and systematic attacks on our Constitutional amendments with the certainty of integrity in our election process and the quaint notion of “America, love it or leave it”. This past election though damaged if not destroyed the above certainty. Moreover, it forced me to seriously the true implications of the quaint notion.
But the worst thing that happened in this election season (or perhaps the best) was that at last I can recognize who the true friends of individual liberty are. They are not you.
Yes, we who suspected election fraud lost in court perhaps 50 some-odd times. I took the time – precious time, given I must reinvent myself professionally, due to pandemic hysteria and forced lockdowns – to read court transcripts and understand why those cases were dismissed. In every case I’ve seen so far, it was due to (perhaps important) technicalities and superior legal argumentation. I’ve also researched sworn testimonies of serious improprieties and credible allegations of malfeasance – broken chains of custody – gross data irregularities – suspicious election observation interruptions – all prematurely and unconvincingly “debunked”.
While this happened, your stalwart journalists were largely MIA, instead choosing to ridicule, if not dismiss my and our legitimate concerns. How dare you call those concerns “baseless” and “merit-less”. How dare you scold that there was no fraud – None.
For the past 20 years, I’ve watched my constitutional rights disintegrate. I’ve watched politicians – our representatives – the supposed defenders of those rights – rationalize, equivocate, and concede battles for those rights, all under the auspices of tactical retreat – I.e., run away and live to fight another day.
I’ve watched our media favor authoritarianism to the point where they now unabashedly do so. I’ve watched our IRS and DOJ embrace it. I’ve watched our universities and K-12 schools, including our teachers and labor unions do the same. I’ve watched our big Tech and now big Pharma do it. I’ve watched our middle-class and police departments under attack. I’ve watched our national debt skyrocket. I could go on and on.
So HotAir, forgive me if I balk at your rationalization that even if we could prove that election fraud happened, even if it were in only one state, city or county, that it would not be substantial enough to overturn the results. Forgive if I seem skeptical, not just about the
alleged 2020 election results, but that my trust in all future US elections, is diminished.
You, HotAir, now ridicule those of us who simply have had enough; those of us who feared this to be our one last chance for fair election. We who recognized that in spite of his crudeness, that Mr. Trump was at least one man who fought back.
To you I say that I still have a free mind and hands and a voice. And unlike you, I understand why this country was and is exceptional.
Most importantly, I understand that if you continue to make no effort to understand my and our concerns, there can be future for us. No agreement to disagree. Nothing.
Goodbye and good riddance HotAir.

I stopped perusing Hot Air about the time they revealed themselves to all be on the “Never Trump” side about 4-5 years ago.
Funny coincidence, I dropped HotAir today, too. I can’t remember which article it was but it was especially egregious and broke the proverbial straw for me.
HotAir was also a source I used to trust and enjoy. I had stopped following them along with nearly everything else a few years ago but went back to them last summer. I noticed right away that they had changed for the worse, by a lot.
So they lost me, too. I just left silently, though. They didn’t deserve my time and energy for anything else.
My prayer is that many, many Americans reach the same conclusion. Long ago I changed my mantra from “love it or leave it” to “love it and FIX it”.
Always great when people research themselves. Good for you.
