As I sit at the USA Shooting Organization’s International Shooting Park in Colorado Springs, waiting to watch my son compete against approximately 184 other young competitors ranging in ages up to 21 years from all corners of our beloved nation (including Alaska), I am reminded of how anomalous are the recently-reported mass shootings across the country. Each day of this competition starts with a call to face the US flag with hats in hands and covered hearts while the national anthem is played. The attention to the safety of all is exemplified by both young and old, while young shooters carry both firearms and ammunition around the facility.
There is absolutely no senseĀ of danger posed by any of these young competitors, coaches and parents. The hysterics on display in the public sphere of politics and news media would have audiences believe otherwise.
Gun safety is a result of education rather than bureaucratic control and legislation. Those who claim otherwise have an agenda seeking control of people they believe to be their inferiors.
One reply on “Gun control advocates continually misrepresent reality”
They’ve been taught well, and congratulations to you on yours.
The oft repeated cliche: gun control is using two hands. The desire of the Everytown Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action and the other assorted heads of that hydra want control over people. Serfs dependent on the state are easier to control when they cannot fight back and have lost the character required to fight. Others will list the definition of citizen versus subject. However you want to draw it, there is a line between a responsible adult and an irresponsible child. If the adult caring for the child does not instill respect for a dangerous tool, whether that be a firearm, sharp edged knife, power saw, hydraulic lift, or any other device that can cause harm when used improperly (5 gallon bucket half full of water can drown a child), that adult is at fault. It isn’t the gun, it isn’t the circular saw, in some cases it isn’t the child.
