Halfway There: Should Jesse Watters Get Snarky about Skid Row Shack-Builder Worthy of HGTV Show?

If a homeless man builds a spectacular shack on Skid Row, worthy of his own HGTV show, should Fox News personality Jesse Watters get snarky about him? Or is there something here that we can build on to solve the problem of homelessness?

If he has a home, he’s not homeless anymore, is he?

What’s ironic is if I were to build such a structure on property which I own and pay taxes on, the next thing you know I would be fined for building without a permit and it would be bulldozed.

Why does the left continue to tolerate this? Why do they not notice that its not happening in the Red states? Many have never really been to a Red State. They are too afraid to leave the hotel and explore. They are told that Red states don’t have poor because they are driven out by laws. They are told that pharmaceuticals can treat madness but its less that 30% effective with many adverse side effects. They wonder why the government policy is not working but when they ask, someone blames big pharma or the nearest Republican. The Covid thing is causing interesting problems for the left because they are forced to defend big pharma.

What was the solution before the 1980’s to this? After both world wars thousands of widows that ran boarding houses that accommodated shell shocked veterans, the disabled people, and the elderly. Many with drinking problems or drug dependencies. In the 1980 – 90’s across the English speaking world boarding houses were widely banned.

Triage was developed Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I in 1486 to 1508. In the Napoleonic war and adopted by the French and then the English later in the war.

The most hopeful thing I’ve ever encountered regarding the homeless crisis was something on PragerU, short documentaries; “Homelessness: The Reality and the Solution”. At around 22:30 they talk about a man in Austin, TX who started Community First Village. Through purposeful living, self-sufficiency, a family atmosphere, and a sustainable ecosystem, they are making a real difference. They believe that homelessness is not a government issue to solve, but a human challenge to conquer.

Agreed, but I’m afraid we’re losing our humanity. Judeo-Christian values are rapidly vanishing. I don’t doubt that one reason Conservatives lose so often is because human decency is no longer respected and rewarded. It simply isn’t cool to be decent, much cooler to be deviant.
