Not soda drinkers here, and I just finished my last bottle of Minute Maid lemonade in the house. Last ever.
It is super easy to make your own soft drinks. Syrup + sparkling water. You can make your own syrup too.
I woke up one morning about 4 years ago and realized that I weighed entirely too much. The first things I cut out were fast food and soft drinks, even the “diet” variety. Before even starting to exercise more than walking, I lost 30 pounds in about 4 months. I was drinking 5-6 diet cokes per day. So I won’t go back to the empty, insulin havoc wreaking type of beverage.
I was sad about the Simply brand as my wife’s current libation of choice is muddled blueberries, Simply lemonade and vodka. Too sweet for me, but she likes it. We’ll have to switch to another brand or just make our own.
Kefir water is a quenching, refreshing drink you can flavor with fruit. Easy to start, easy to keep going, doesn’t taste like compost (like kombucha), and the carbonation is more like a micro bubble effervescence than the large bubbles of bottled soft drinks. If well cared for the kefir grains increase via happy reproduction.
