Heart Of Darkness

Just when I think that our Society has hit Peak Depravity, someone comes along and says, “Hold my beer”. In my lifetime, I’ve seen the abortion argument go from “Legal, Safe and Rare” in the wake of Roe V Wade, to “It’s vital, in the case of rape or incest” (less that 3% of all abortions), to “In order to save the life of the mother” (Former Surgeon General C Everett Coop said that in his 35 years as a practicing physician, never did he see a situation requiring an abortion to save a woman’s life), to “It’s not a Baby, it’s a Clump of Cells/Unviable Tissue Mass”, to “If you don’t have a uterus, you have no right to an opinion” (ironically, many of those using this talking point also say that you don’t need a uterus to be a woman, but I digress).

Nowadays, it’s “Reproductive Justice”. Under the rules of Reproductive Justice, to oppose abortion for ANY reason is to hate and/or oppress women, or to be an agent or dupe of The Patriarchy. In recent months, I’ve read a few pieces illustrating the glories of Reproductive Justice, such as the woman writing a letter to her aborted twins, telling them that she wasn’t ready to be a mom, so their lives had to be sacrificed for her convenience. Or, the Pennsylvania abortion clinic that offers Memorial Services for, and selfie photographs with your murdered child. Or, the latest trend, Abortion as an aphrodisiac.

You read that right. There are couples out there, making babies, with specific goal of aborting them. They call it “Empowering” and “Liberating”. One guy acknowledged that his girlfriend was pregnant with a girl (their third child, previous two, aborted), that she was going to abort between 20 and 24 weeks (her preferred time to abort). It’s enough to make a strong man weep, and yet it’s background noise. Children are being murdered by the thousands every day, and NOBODY NOTICES! Life just goes on. Depravity.

And yet, at the same time, Beta O’Rourke and the other Democrats are all touting the Gun Control planks of their platforms. How they’re going to make us safer, by making us defenseless. “If it saves one child’s life,” they say…pfft. Yeah, right. A society that has turned what should be the safest place on Earth – a Mother’s Womb – into an abattoir, doesn’t get the luxury of wringing its hands and fretting about Blood in the Streets. We are witnessing the Casual Nihilism of Modern Society, writ large.

I’ve said it before; this is what a dying civilization looks like. But, we’re not dead, yet. We can turn it around. We can repent. We can seek His face. We can make the future.

“If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7-14.
