Hong Kong CEO Carrie Lam, China’s compliant puppet, gets jeered from the legislature when she tries to give her annual speech. She later gives the speech by video, saying the independence movement won’t be tolerated, and blames the protest on income inequality. Chinese Premier Xi Jinping says “Hong Kong is China’s Hong Kong,” and China won’t let anyone split them. Has Hong Kong reached a tipping point? What should U.S. President Donald Trump do to encourage liberty, without scuttling his trade negotiations with China?

Bill said that if Mr. Trump condemned Chinese aggression it’d be a “blood bath”. Yet, this condemnation and the resulting potential COMPLETE boycott of ALL Chinese goods is the crux of American leverage.
(So) What should Mr. Trump do?
If ever I wanted a Virtual President episode topic (& btw, those were great!), it’d be on this!
For Trump to tie Hong Kong to talks w/ Xi, or anything in the talks to Hong Kong, would be Quid Pro Quo. And that’s an impeachable thing.
Bring it on!
I’m just gonna leave this here (sorry for the swear word). https://youtu.be/8fwgVUfW_O4
Sorry , Friday evening silliness, I know it’s a serious subject but a puppet named Lam only puts one picture in my mind.
Hong Kong did not absorb China! The Chicoms absolutely proved that capitalism works just as well under totalitarianism as under liberty, as Hong Kong did not return under China’s control until 1999. Remember, this juggernaut was started by Nixon back in 1972. The Chicoms have perfected the illusion of freedom while maintaining absolute control over the people. HK will eventually be assimilated.
Saving “face” is the opposite of humility and a sham. The Japanese weren’t humiliated even after Tokyo was turned into a crematorium in WWII. Not until two nuclear bombs were dropped did they finally lose “face”. After their surrender, America gave Japan mercy (withheld punishment that was deserved) and grace (undeserved aid to rebuild). The “golden bridge” between totalitarianism and freedom and liberty and justice for all is as far as the East is from the West. Unconditional surrender is the only thing that can take the face off our enemies.
