First let me start with I believe that our Declaration of Independence is probably the best basis for morals.
It has the same elements of many of the world’s religious beliefs.
We hold these truths to be self-evident:
Life, Liberty, The pursuit of happiness. (In that exact order)
Some others have added “Property” to that list of three and I tend to agree.
We all know that freedom is limited.
We understand that we are free to do what we choose right up until our choices interfere with another’s freedoms. When there is a conflict we go down the list.
Let’s define what these mean, because far too much has been twisted in these regards.
Life: I have a right to be alive. I have a right to nurture & protect my life that I might grow old & produce offspring without someone coming attempting to take it away.
Liberty, (has two definitions in the dictionary.
1. The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views.
2. The power or scope to act as one pleases.
Pursue Happiness – Pretty self-explanatory. I have a right to seek the things that make me happiest.
This is a “Right” and I don’t need to explain why it makes me happy.
A couple of “understood” rights.
1) My property is mine and no other has authority over that property unless I give that authority.
2) I will not be held responsible for another’s words or actions.
Just because someone, or many, might abuse a particular “right”, that is not a cause or catalyst to restrict or infringe upon my rights.

Good list. I would make your last item #2 parallel to item #1 above it:
2) I will not be held responsible for another’s words or actions, unless I accept that responsibility.
Good point…. The list has just begun… it covers a great many topics.. I will probably post a segment once every few days so not to just dump on the system.
