Intentional Lies about Monterey Park

USA today reported that the Monterey Park shooting was a result of Anti-Asian hate AFTER they knew the shooter was Asian.

USA Today reported that the Monterey Park shooting “revived the fears and trauma of anti-Asian hate for the Los Angeles Asian community,” and, as Steve Green points out, they wrote this AFTER they were aware that the shooter was himself Asian. When will this end?

If you haven’t read this book, you should. In some places it gets mind-numbingly obtuse, but it’s not the writer — it’s the writer laying out the Critical Theorists actual arguments — and that’s what’s mind-numbing

“Cynical Theories: How Activist Scholarship Made Everything about Race, Gender, and Identity―and Why This Harms Everybody”

As I was explaining to someone yesterday who was saying CRT is about black people asserting their superiority over white people. And I said No. Black people didn’t come up with CRT, and most black people, I don’t believe are pushing it. It’s white liberals along with some black allies they’ve managed to recruit.

“Tear Down”, Steve. “Tearing down” is what it’s all about.

When will it stop? When journalism purges itself of Critical Theory.

Remember … it’s IN THEIR ACADEMIC LITERATURE on the subject — it is not whether or not it was racist, it is HOW racism manifests itself in any particular situation.

Thus we get white Hispanics, and white supremisim causing Asians to kill Asians. It seems to be somewhat of a “game” to come up with a rationalization of how the racism caused the incident.

When do they go back and change the angle? They don’t.

The headline is the story, the headline is the tool. EVEN IF THE STORY REFUTES THE HEADLINE (which it often does) the headline is 1) all most people who see or hear it read, and 2) for most of those who do read it – the headline sets the reader’s frame of reference before starts.

To them, “getting the story right” IS putting the Critical Theory spin on it. Facts don’t matter, we got into journalism to CHANGE THE WORLD (“make a difference” is what all the J students I talked to at MU said back in the day when I asked why they chose journalism).

And Zo, it’s NOT just money and votes. Critical Theory is about collapsing a culture by turning everybody in on the middle.

Here’s one way it works. There IS no middle. Middle is a mathematical average that describes no single person. So most people can find something to feel “oppressed” about. But the goal is to make our culture lose faith in itself so the can replace it with their Utopian vision.

Discrimination and hate towards Asians began, was birthed, in our highest institutes of ‘learning.’ Our ‘best in the world’ universities have been getting more and more ink and air time about their blatant anti-Asian prejudice. Why would the rest of us, under educated slobs that we are, react in any other manner?

How is this anything like a surprise? Recall that “Hands up, don’t shoot” was known to be BS LONG before the media quit forwarding it as the situation. Well, okay, they’re still saying this, but lay that aside. The Covington scenario, the “mostly peaceful” protests that burned down city blocks; the list goes on. The democrat AV department, formerly known as the US legacy media, is dedicated to a narrative of broad scope and – if the actual story doesn’t properly forward that narrative – *shrug*, who cares? This is the very core of why so few people believe “the media” has any significant credibility anymore.

Journalism has always been an enterprise; who sells the most copies, gets the most clicks, garners the most eyeballs — Succeeds. That part hasn’t changed and probably never will.

What has changed is the incentive to grow the enterprise by telling the truth to the public. Even that hasn’t changed a lot, the truth was always a lesser incentive than telling people what they want to hear. Newspapers back in the 1800’s carried some pretty wild and wooly barely-or-not-at-all true stories too.

Journalistic bias has always been an issue. This is one of the reasons the Founding Fathers sought to affirm freedom of speech and freedom of the press. If people have multiple sources of information and can discuss things in public without fear of reprisal eventually the truth percolates to the top and becomes obvious.

The media that tells the truth comes out on top more often than its competitors and that track record drives sales and advertising revenue streams. It takes a very long time to establish the public trust and it takes no time at all to lose it.

Once a media source loses that trust its market does not immediately dry up. At that point the media organization must cater to its market remnant by telling its content consumers what they want to hear. They’ll keep buying the media content if that is done.

Down that road lies collapse of the media entity but this tactic postpones the end. There is a positive feedback loop that ensures eventually the financial implosion of the media outlet will manifest. The more misdirection and deception the outlet has to employ to keep telling people what they want to hear the more eccentrically that source orbits the truth.

That’s how we end up with things like The National Enquirer.

Do not miss an opportunity to mock and ridicule people who have indulged in self-delusion to the point of believing an obvious lie from their favorite media source. Mockery and ridicule are very potent weapons especially when wielded against those who subscribe to Leftist narratives of victimhood and shallow false virtues.

If someone says anything along the lines of “All this racism is so terrible, look at what happened in Monterey Park!”

Don’t stoop to their level and argue about racism, that’s what they want you to do so they can paint you as a racist and discard your opinions.

Just ask them what happened in Monterey Park so you can get them to commit to their narrative. When they tell you that it was a horrible massacre by a racist anti-Asian white guy ask them …

“Oh really? Where did you hear that?”

Let them tell you. You’re about to attack their source so you need to get to this point.

Then say something like “That’s weird because it was known within minutes of that shooting that it was Asian-on-Asian violence. I can’t stop you from going around repeating lies but lies are lies nonetheless. Repeating lies makes you a liar too. Is that your intent? No? Well then you’ve been suckered and made a fool of.”

(I tried to watch TSL last night but both YouTube and Twitch kept locking up the stream. From what I was able to see before I quit in frustration Bill was talking about “not walking into the enemy’s kill box”. This is how you put into practice what Bill meant by that.)

The sad truth is that journalism is no longer about “getting it right” but selling more copies. The narrative is very much a cheap selling point, not unlike a product that touts “New & Improved” …. and the only thing new is the ink under those words.

You guys are making the mistake of thinking that most of today’s media’s objective is to practice journalism. Most of the media is just the PR wing of the Radical Left that has taken over the Democratic Party. There are the rare journalists, like Rebel Media, Veritas, Julie Kelly, Lauren Southern, etc. but you won’t find that in any major network or newspaper

It’s “the Age of Obama”, where true power is achieved through bravely claiming victimhood. The legacy of our first black president is just that, the opposite of the legacy of MLK.

There is a fresh “George Floyd” in Missouri who is possibly different in presentation, really beaten to death by five cops. But it seems the five are all black. Mmmm. I wonder how this will be blamed on the usual suspects and lead to riots.

Keith – did you mean the one in Memphis or was there another one in Missouri that I haven’t heard about yet?
The five in Memphis have all been charged with 2nd degree murder and they will release the body cam footage tonight (Friday night dump?).
