Greg Gutfeld at Fox News labels the media “irredeemably evil” when ABC News tweets about a “luxury car” that attacks a crowd of peaceful Black lives matter protestors. Never mind the race or motivations of the driver…you know, the actual facts of the story that didn’t neatly fit the narrative.

As reported in an Alaskan newspaper in March 1954, the following saying appeared on a sign in a legislator’s office. The sign was presumably intended to be humorous; now, it’s merely cynical:
Variations on this theme have proliferated ever since. To anyone and everyone who has an agenda, particularly victim causes with an ax to grind such as BLM, LGBTQ, Southern Poverty Law Center, etc., facts are IRRELEVANT. Manipulating perception of ‘the cause’, aka ‘spin’, is all that matters to such people. In the name of ‘the cause’, deception is not only acceptable, but laudable; righteous indignation by ‘the cause’ is valuable; emotional tirade to advance ‘the cause’ is honorable; suppressing serious dialogue about ‘the cause’ is sensible; any and every outrageous demand for ‘the cause’ is defensible; public shaming, economic boycott, and even physical violence by proponents of ‘the cause’ is justifiable, based on the crimes perpetrated against them by ‘the system’.
Because ‘the cause’ is defined by its members as being just and its opponents as being unjust, those members believe that nothing done in support of ‘the cause’ can be evil. That attitude allows supporters of ‘the cause’ to laugh at criticism, to reject reasoned debate, and to vilify detractors as bigoted, hateful, and unjust, all with a straight face and a clear conscience.
Because members of ‘the cause’ have closed their minds, they are unreasonable, and therefore unapproachable. Attempts to negotiate with ‘the cause’ is futile because they declare their demands to be non-negotiable. For those reasons, ‘the cause’ has the potential to incite antisocial behavior when their demands are rejected. Such groups are prone to being manipulated, both by anarchists, who sincerely believe that the only way to save society is to destroy the institutions that they blame for the injustice that victimized them; and by enemies of democracy, who want to destroy freedom. That dynamic is why the violence of the past few weeks could be the opening shots of war for victim causes, aided and abetted by our own liberal media. Our enemies, both at home and abroad, must be dancing for joy.
Having seen the video this report is based on, and having taken journalism in college, I cannot give them Scott’s ‘benefit of the doubt.’ The freeway was not closed (actually, partially blocked) until AFTER the EXIT the driver attempted to take that was being filled with BLM activists and when he Braked from hiway speeds, attempting to avoid people standing in the road, hit two people. He then stopped to render aid. Based on what I saw, he had no place to go when coming upon the situation. This report is incomplete, biased and severely slanted. Journalism at it’s worse-no, propaganda. I would fire the reporter and his editor immediately upon receiving such a story. 30
Defund luxury cars…
you know, there was an attempt by some employees of Ford Motor Co to stop making police cars, but the CEO/boss type shut that down! Go Ford!
“Energetic maliciousness”? What about DELIBERATE DISINFORMATION? Russian defector Lt. Gen. Ion Mihi Pacepa wrote the book on disinformation and titled it “Disinformation”. The fake stream media is overrun with communists.
Steve said, “It’s not just Democrats vs. Republicans anymore, this is Marxists vs. everybody else.”
Hold on. What party do those particular journalists belong to? I’d bet money they’re not Republicans. Birds of a feather flock together. The DNC is a haven for people cursed by God’s “strong delusion”.
98% of newsrooms are either Leninists or Maoists.
The other 2% are Marxists.
I do appreciate that Scott sees people as flawed rather than intentionally bad. In fact, as I often quote Heinlein, here is one of my favorites from the man:
“You have attributed conditions to villainy that simply result from stupidity.”
― Robert A. Heinlein, The Green Hills of Earth
However, in these cases, the style guide has been determined by those editors and publishers well before hand; with malice aforethought. Had the driver been white, the headline would have shouted it. It is why we have gun violence in Chicago every weekend and when a BLM “protester” shoots an 8 year old black girl in Atlanta, but murder when the ethnicity allows for it.
This does need to be pointed out each and every time it happens.
It is just part of the “If you repeat a message often enough it becomes the truth.”
Stupid or evil? Yes.
As Steve Green says (and I have taken), embrace the healing power of “and”.
Evil has no inherent power because it is at war with reality. Yet when good people do nothing and stay silent, evil has the upper hand. The final result of that apathy is total destruction of anything worth building and keeping.
If you do nothing else, at least say evil is bad and should not be allowed to continue.
Yes, evil is bad, but how do we stop it from continuing?
Evil will die of its own incompetency. It is at war with reality and that is a war that cannot be won. Evil survives only because it feeds on those who are not incompetent. They cannot deal with reality so try to control those of us who live, understand, and use reality to support ourselves. Without us, they are nothing and will die in an orgy of consuming themselves. Above all, do not give them your sanction [verb].
In effect, Go Galt as best you can.
I wish I could agree with you. Instead, I believe it’s a lifelong war for each of us, and the reality is we can’t win it on our own. Evil may lose battles, and often does. But it relentlessly regroups and begins again. Eventually the cracks appear, and then a toehold, a foothold, and then another stronghold must be demolished and swept away. Hope lies in the fact that I’ve read the end of The Book and know that Evil’s days are numbered. But Evil knows that, too, and has nothing to lose in trying to destroy as much as it can.
Any power that evil has must be given to them by those who are not evil. Evil is nothing but the irrational in face of the nature of reality. It has the force of destruction only. It cannot build. It cannot create values necessary for living and thriving. It merely takes what it needs to survive. Even the power to take must be given to evil by those who are not evil. It is this submission that must be stopped. Hence Go Galt!
I’ll grants your argument. But I’d still hate to be born in Minsk in 1919.
Agreed but without the grants of wealth from the US, the USSR would have faded decades before it did. It proves my point.
