Is 1619 our true founding?

I am a newcomer to any kind of blogging, so please don’t make fun of me.  I saw something online that I found so disturbing, that I just had to say something. The quote below is from an email I receive twice a week from the NYT Cooking editor, Sam Sifton.  It normally contains recipes and recommendations for books and tv programs, but today I read this:

Finally, please spend a lot of time today and in the days           to  come with “The 1619 Project,” The New York Times           Magazine’s hugely ambitious, dark and important                     attempt  to reframe our country’s history,                                   understanding 1619 as our true founding, when                         enslaved Africans were first sold to colonists and                      American slavery began.

Why do we need to “reframe our country’s history?” Why should we consider “1619 as our true founding? ” Indisputably, slavery is and was a great evil, but our country was founded on liberty and our God given inalienable rights.  After a terrible civil war and hundreds of years of bitter struggle slavery was abolished and the civil rights of black Americans were acknowledged and protected. Our country is not perfect, but we are making progress in guaranteeing equal rights to all Americans.

I guess it just depends on what you choose to focus on.  One can choose to dwell on the inequities of both the present and the past or contemplate ways of helping all Americans live in liberty and achieve the potential God intended for their lives. I hope Bill, Scott, and Steve do a program on the 1619 Project to inform Americans of this insidious  attempt to rewrite history.

The thing that the left seeks quietly into the conversation is that, if anyone not on the left has anyone in his genetic or social history they deem to be wrong, he too is guilty of that wrong and can never be right again. At the same time, those of the left can promote, implement, and cause to happen huge wrongs with catastrophic consequence are to be held innocent of error as long as they had something called “good intentions”.

This means those of the left cannot ever be held to account for their wrong doings, however evil, while those not of the left can only be held to account for any wrong, however slight, done by anyone in their past: real or imaginary. See the original sin by Adam. Adam was someone who did not exist and was only an ancient myth with no foundation in reality. Yet we men are to be held accountable for eternity for his sin that was never committed and could not have been committed. If we are to believe the left, we are to be forever enslaved to the left because the left pretends to have “good intentions” and thereby justly claims ownership of all others.

One more reason to stop feeding them.

Well, first, welcome to the club. If you’re new enough you might not know that blog is a shortened form of web log, an online journal of sorts so pretty much any topic of any depth is fair game. Hopefully here we rise above simple facebook cat pictures, though pictures of cats are not prohibited. 😀

In a sense, the country did start in 1619, or thereabouts but its odd (well not really given the authors and the subject) they take a look at the southern colony and not the northern one, where the colonists were busy pilling and raping the native indians and had no need for imported slaves… oh wait. Yeah, that didn’t happen. They are probably quite happy to lump the Dutch sailors that brought the slaves here and criticize the Spaniards for all of their abuses of both native and imported slaves. Nevermind Moslems taking slaves out of eastern Africa or the Africans themselves doing the selling of the slaves.

As bad as the slaves had it here (and not to excuse what happened to them) they were the losers and descendants of losers in tribal wars, where enslavement was par for the course and has been between many centuries for a couple millennia. The people that now live here have a much greater standard of living, as poor as they might be, than they would had their ancestors not lost.

All the talk of re-framing history around slavery is partially to cover the enslavement of the mind of those still on the leftist’s plantation.

Why? Because progressivism is the province of raving sociopathic narcissists. They tear things down so that they will appear bigger, that is their one and only interest. The talk about “speaking truth to power” is just to stroke their already bloated egos, they have no belief in or concern for truth.
