Four years ago, just prior to the elections, and I was among the many who believed that Hillary was most likely to win the election, I wrote The Moral Argument for “Let it Burn”. It’s a somewhat long piece, but in my humble opinion I’d argue was one of my best posts. The quick summary is that if our country is in an inevitable decline (which was slowed down, but hardly stopped by president Trump’s election), then we have a moral obligation to rip the band aid off as soon as possible rather than compound the amount of repair needed afterward. Our country has too many people smart enough, patriotic enough, and with the will to ensure that the idea of America endures. So why am I so convinced that we are on borrowed time?
The gang at Right Angle made an excellent video on a Politico piece pointing out that even if Biden wins he’s still screwed. I could have written a simple three-word summary, “He has dementia.” But of course they laid out may more practical reasons, such as GOP control of the Senate, the fact that Beijing Biden didn’t win by the sweeping mandate they promised, etc. Luckily, all the headaches President Trump would face are nothing different from what he’s been enduring for four years. And this time he’ll have enough DC experience to avoid the growing pains of his first year or two of adjusting from private sector to government. But America’s inevitable downfall goes beyond this election.

The Radical Left has overrun education, the media, and entertainment. Crushing American culture is huge, but not the end. Look at the Democratic Party and how far they’ve radicalized over the last two decades. Five years ago I pointed out that by 2015 standards Bill Clinton would have been branded as a Tea Party radical by Leftists. Since then, they’ve gone even more off the deep end – getting rid of the police while demanding that citizens disarm, the completely insane Green New Deal, supporting the destruction of predominately black neighborhoods, killing our energy industry, etc. Jim Geraghty offered some constructive criticism yesterday that will come off as hate speech to most Leftists. The flow of history tells us that at some point Democrats will come back into power, as in having the Presidency and both houses of Congress.
Look at what they did the last time they had this power in the first two years of Obama’s presidency – Obamacare, Dodd Frank, etc. A decade later Democrats don’t even try to hide how much they despise half of this country. And when it comes to pushing their radical agendas, they are smart and disciplined. Us Normals like to crow about the electoral bloodbath that Dems faced in 2010, but so what? They got Obamacare, and the feckless GOP has shown they have no stomach to repeal. The next time they come into power you can look no further than recently turned states like Virginia to see the destruction they’re ready to unleash on America. “So Bob,” you may be asking, “Are you saying we just give up?”
Oh HELL NO!
America is the greatest country to ever exist on this Earth. Have we been perfect? No. But no country has done more to spread freedom and prosperity in its relatively short existence than the USA. Even when the Democrat pathogen spreads across the country, the Normals will start exercising the power of “No.” We’ll start pushing back, for that matter we already are in terms of shunning the institutions that they’ve destroyed and building our own. I’m guessing that a Kurt Schlicter novel-esque split will happen into Red & Blue America. And eventually people will see which side governs better. Only this time Leftists will not be allowed to uncontrollably migrate from the states that they ruined, only to then vote in the same policies that ruined the s*** holes that their votes created.
There is a lot of pain ahead, but it won’t be the end of America. And we’ll be ready. But for now, we can start by following the sage advice of Warren Zevon. Because as David Mustaine once said, this one ain’t over ’til the fat lady dies.
Democrats: You tell us how many votes we're down after the election, and we'll tell you how many mail-in ballots we found to win. https://t.co/V985puTMZj

The problem I see is that there is, for practical purposes, nothing we can do in the political arena. Why? Because the Republican establishment has shown conclusively that they will join forces with the Democrats if necessary, if that’s what it takes to suppress any possible representation of those who don’t consider “More statism!” to be the go-to answer to any and all problems.
If you don’t think that’s true, I offer as evidence the existence of the “Never-Trump Republicans,” and the Cochran vs. McDaniel election of 2014.
The Republican party is not on our side. They’ve done exactly the same thing Fox News did, only they did it earlier and they were slightly more subtle.
Trump isn’t the target, and never was. We’re the target. Trump was just in the way.
Also important is economic momentum. I commented this story on another post several months ago but it’s worth a repeat:
My first job out of college was at Western Electric, which was part of AT&T, AKA the former Bell System. I started there in the fall of 1983, with the federally ordered breakup coming on Jan 1, 1984. My dad also worked there, both of us in the big plant in Allentown PA.
One day that fall, we were having lunch together, talking about the company, and he said, “You know, this company is so big that we could be out of business right now and not know it for 20 years.” I remember the line exactly.
The breakup came and Western Electric became AT&T Microelectronics. We later merged with Bell Labs and became Lucent. Guess what? In 2003, Lucent ceased to exist and its remnants were acquired by another company. (I had left for another job in 1990.)
The point of the story is that the U.S. economy is so gigantic that it could be several generations until the inevitable collapse under socialism. So, to paraphrase my dad, we might be a failed state right now and not know it for 100 years.
I actually told my kids that they shouldn’t have kids of their own because of the direction the country was headed. In about 2003. They didn’t follow my advice. Now I fear for my grandchildren and their eventual children.
Kep in mind that the future belongs to who actually shows up. Your grandchildren won’t enjoy the peace and prosperity that we’re squandering, but hopefully they’ll grow up well prepared enough to uphold what was passed along to us. And we’re not letting this country go down without a fight
Side note: I remember a great story in The Onion just after 9/11, headlined along the lines of: “Determined to not let the terrorists win and make them stop doing business as usual, Lucent announces it’s 10th straight quarter of record losses”
At the time I left what was then still AT&T Microelectronics, we were losing money at the rate of $1 million per day.
I also fear for the future of our grandkids. This bullshit needs to end!
I have said since about 2008 that Rome has fallen. In our case, the Visigoths didn’t have to invade, they were home-grown.
Most people here have heard of Yuri Besmenov, and all the rest soon will. Let the communists win and there will be no USA.
Davey Crockett: “You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas.”
I’ve been in Texas since ’75, and hell has crept in through the back door in too many counties, but I am armed for bear.
Thanks, Brother Bob.
Been saying it since 2008 too – 2016 was just a stay of execution
“hell has crept in through the back door” – Spot on.
I’m a 9th generation Texan (there aren’t many who can say that) and sadly, I wonder how long it will be until I have to pack up and head for Oklahoma. Although it seems that some folks along the border may finally be waking up a little, the blue cancer has infected all of the major cities – even purple Fort Worth finally turned blue for Biden (due to mail in ballots, a few days after the election…. which has me wondering).
Back around 2015 or so, my boyfriend and I went to a few “meetup” groups in Dallas. There would usually be 20-25 people at each, and inevitably, the first question would be “Is anyone here a native Texan?” My boyfriend and I would always be the only ones.
We have been invaded, and I’m afraid that pretty soon, Texas won’t belong to the Texans anymore.
The countryside does and will.
I don’t think there are any city dwellers, or troglodyte transplants, to be succinct, that could last for three days in the hill country, much less anywhere west of Johnson City. Try Perryton in February, or Eagle Pass in August.

All good – no worries!
I am going to post several comments with a similar theme. I tried to post all of them in one and had a problem with line feeds.
All good comments, but I think you might have meant to drop them on another post that appeared at this site today =8^)
I did mean them for the “Bad Data” video. Sorry about that.
Take back your country by taking back:
I see two outcomes.
One would be essentially the plot of Kurt Schlicter’s book ‘Conservative Insurgency’ where the push-back is overwhelming and puts the USA back on track, with the re-takeover of the entertainment industry and education fixing many of the issues with following generations.
The other is where the country becomes so fractured that its weakness is just too tempting for foreign powers and we see military action on American soil. While this doesn’t sound great, it does mean that decent people will need to stand together whatever their political leanings, and could see the best outcome of a united America (if a little different from the former America perhaps) with a common goal from all those left who call themselves American.
Military action on US soil would be guaranteed to fail and is unnecessary. China owns our media/entertainment industrial complex, while Communism is now praised openly in the schools. I see two futures – the Dems try to nationalize Californication. Either they succeed in turning us into Venezuela, or they succeed with part, as the Normals split and form our own country.
