Can conservatives have fun defeating Progressive ideas? We can when we learn that arguing with Progressives is no match for pure ridicule, and laughing at their fear of truth.
Bill Whittle and Alfonzo Rachel produce two new episodes of The Virtue Signal each week with funding from our Members to explore the moral and ethical principles beneath the news of the day. Become a Member now.

The logo behind Zoe looks like angel wings and a halo, Saint Alfonzoe? Maybe.
This discussion was very helpful to me. And it made me laugh. AND Happy Birthday, Zo.
Happy belated Birthday Zo, yeah was that intentional for the halo to line up right above your head, lol
Is that golden oval at the top of the background in Zo’s screen shot, the one that usually appears around or behind his hat, supposed to be a halo?
Zo certainly has more sense than to claim to be a saint before his time. 🙂
The way I remember it, “Virtue Signaling” isn’t their term, it’s ours to describe their MO, and it is a tool of ridicule the full-on Kangaroo Ball puffery of their existence.
I wanna be mean spirited about it. 🙂 Well at least against the people who have been mean-spirited about it… And I’m not mean-spirited by nature. I know, that’s not turning the other cheek. But still…
Hey, Zo … you’re creative. I’m creative …. we’re both conservative.
As best as I remember this story: Chet Atkins liked poking fun at himself and his fellow musicians. One day he leans over to the bass player and says “Did anyone ever tell you that you are the best bass player in the world.” The bass player says, “Gosh, no!” Chet gets this little smile and says “Did you ever wonder why?” All in good fun.
So, here is a quick attempt at humor at their expense.
I have to disagree with some of the statements about Conservatives being practical but mostly NOT being imaginative or creative and that we seem to have to leave that to the professionals. Sorry, no can do.
I do agree with the practice of mockery which can be used to show the Left how ridiculous they really are. The photo of one guy mocking and the other guy with his head bowed in shame does not apply to the Left. They are arrogant and believe their own lies whole heartedly. They kneel to those who celebrate violence. Their hubris is such that they certainly do not hang their heads!
I will have to see if I can find a guide on how to make sure that I’m only doing the “fun” type of ridicule. What? !!? Marxism is not only mean it serves its lies with sledge hammers and death. I intend to keep serving my mockery of them with words to equally highlight who they ARE. It helps to keep my head from exploding. I’m not the only one!
Happy Birthday, Zo! So glad you are part of the team. Love “The Virtue Signal”, a profound antidote to all the rot and madness around.
I’m all for puncturing leftists. I’ve invested in a lot of tools that are highly suitable to such an enterprise …
Oh wait — You mean verbally puncturing them. Hell, I’ve been doing that for years.
Literally / Figuratively
Sometimes it is hard to choose which is correct.
Stiletto – still works well.
You guys, this is some awesome stuff. Thank you. These seem like such obvious observations, but they’re just NOT. It explains a lot about why I fail so spectacularly at arguing with my liberal family and friends.
And happy birthday, Zo.
My best buddy is a retired USMC Lt. Colonel and he’s conservative as anyone could ask for. His wife is a teacher and she’s a Liberal but not a Leftist. She gets no slack from me on that because the people who name themselves Liberals have thrown in with the Left. I have a lot of fun with her, at her expense, because she tries that sort of scoffing thing and I pull the rug out from under her. In a friendly, respectful manner, she is after all a Marine’s Wife. Often this is simply a matter of knowing the actual truth that counters the Leftist lies.
For example —
She says “Donald Trump is a racist”.
I say “Yup, and he’s one of the worst. He’s a terrible racist. (Slight pause to let that sink in.) A really good racist would not have created conditions of record high Black employment and record low Black unemployment. What in the Sam Hell does he think he’s doing? The dirty scoundrel! I heard the KKK notified him that he has to turn in his membership card. Trump is a total failure as a racist. Pathetic.”
She hears the first two sentences and thinks I’m agreeing with her. Her jaw drops. Then I deliver the next few sentences and she realizes that not only am I making fun of her, I’m exposing her ignorance too.
It’s not hard to do this. You just have to think about it a little bit. You don’t want to cite figures and historical precedents, you don’t want to get all scientific, you just have to expose the absurdities in what they say. When you do that, hopefully they’ll go research what you said for themselves trying to prove you wrong and in doing so they learn the actual truth. If they don’t, that’s OK too, you exposed them to the facts and what they do with that is up to them.
“Jim Crow Flies” … haha.
Consider that to be a noun rather than a noun+verb, and the image of decay forms in one’s mind. The leftists of the world are the modern inspiration of such societal decay.
