The Leftwing media touts a Republican uprising against President Trump’s 2020 campaign, and the specter of a primary opponent. Should Trump welcome and even encourage never-Trumpers — the loyal opposition — to mount a primary challenge?

If there was a less-boorish person who had conservative principles that could engender a vigorous debate during the primaries, I think that would be good because otherwise the MSM will be able to justify wall to wall coverage of the D primaries, and no coverage of the R as there is nothing going on.
A good debate on how to keep moving forward would always be acceptable.
However, whoever that would be would still need to be willing to fight. We had 17 people last time. Only one willing to to push back. PDT fights. He fights by the same Marquis of Queensbury rules that are being used against him. Who is the other person out there who would be a fighter but a gentleman?
I agree with Bill Whittle and think I can sum it up. You can’t have someone clean enter a mud wrestling match and have them come out both clean and the winner. That is why Romney lost and Trump won. Trump was ready to mud wrestle. So if people want a clean person to win, then remove the mud from the wrestling match.
The older I get, the less I comment, because I realize I have little or nothing new to say.
But sometimes you just gotta say, “yep.” So: Bill, EXCELLENT POINTS!
Glad you did, Tim.
I couldn’t justify voting for him in 2016. He had no track record of conservatism, he was untrustworthy in his personal life, and I found his behavior and attitude both crude and repulsive. I thought he was utterly unfit.
He now has a track record of mostly conservative actions, and he’s remarkably effective at goading progressives into revealing their crazy authoritarian nature. As things stand now, for those two reasons I intend to hold my nose and vote for him in 2020.
So your solution in 2016 was to vote for Hillary?
I understand a position of checking out, but can’t condone it. That used to be how I feel but have evolved it since getting involved in politics.
It’s a fine strategy to vote against someone for president. Since we are all human and don’t live in a perfect world, we will never get a perfect candidate. To think otherwise is naive.
This may be the first time I’ve truly disagreed with you guys. Does the #NeverTrump platform really need more resources? How about instead of wasting resources on fighting off some Democrats Lite we save our energy for whatever extremist we have to fend off in the general election?
You make total sense, Bob. All I would suggest is that back in the day, my football team never saved its energy for the Saturday game. We vigorously scrimmaged to test our mettle.
Fait point! Although I’d counter that President Trump’s mettle has been tested daily since before e was even sworn in…
