Make a difference – participate in your local 40 Days for Life vigil, March 2 – April 10

This Wednesday begins the 2022 Spring 40 Days for Life campaign all over the world. Want to help bring an end to abortion in your community? Join this peaceful, prayerful effort. Go to 40daysforlife.com for more information and to find a vigil near you.

Don’t just talk about being pro-life, take a proven, prayerful, peaceful approach to helping to end the slaughter of innocent children. Yes, you can also help a local pregnancy center, walk with a women with an unplanned pregnancy and support candidates who will stand up for babies and their families. All good stuff.

As a co-leader of a local 40 Days for Life vigil in Washington state, here is what I share with those who participate in my local vigil:

Our presence on the sidewalk matters. Even Planned Parenthood’s own data shows that when people are outside the clinic praying the no show rate at its clinics goes as high as 75%. That means that for every 4 appointments scheduled, only 1 woman shows up!

And our witness saves more lives when the weather is bad – nothing less than the love of Jesus Christ could compel someone to be out on the sidewalk in nasty weather praying for an end to abortion. We can literally save lives participating in 40 Days for Life. How amazing it that?

It’s never too late to make that commitment and we serve a God who outdoes us in generosity with whatever time we give in serving him. There are so many examples in the Bible where God extended his mercy and love to his people at the final hour when they stepped out to meet him. And he met their efforts with abundance. Think of his multiplication of the loaves and fishes – how much was left over after everyone had eaten? You cannot outdo God in generosity!

I also want to share that this is first and foremost a spiritual battle. The dark side would like nothing better than for the sidewalk to remain empty. People who believe that abortion improves the lives of women by solving their “problem” do not want us on the sidewalk. We are a reminder of the truth that all lives matter.

We don’t know who God will bring to us but if we are not on the sidewalk, we won’t give him the opportunity to bring us anyone. It’s really that simple.

We know that God could end abortion in an instance, but he wants us, his faithful people, to step into that gap with him. We, who know how destructive abortion is to women and their families, are being given a great gift – an opportunity to be a light of Christ to all who see us standing on the sidewalk proclaiming the truth of abortion in love.

Our spring vigil runs Ash Wednesday (March 2) – April 10. If you are able, please have the courage to stand on the sidewalk and let women know that they and their babies deserve better than abortion. God bless.

Rebecca
