Mayor Pete to VP Pence: God Made Me Homosexual, Argue with Him

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg tells VP Mike Pence that the decision to make Mayor Pete homosexual was God’s and if Pence has a problem with that, he should argue with the Creator. what happens when a professing Christian, open homosexual, claims the imprimatur of God on this lifestyle. Will his claimed Christianity put off Progressives as his declared homosexuality deters conservatives?

Bill, I’m a long time follower who recently rejoined. There is a very logical and consistent way to view this matter that did not come up in your discussion with Scott. It will transform the way you view Christian issues like this. I’m not a pastor, I’m a technical man who is also an evangelical Christian who has spent a lifetime distilling down the issues of faith into something I can discuss with my kids.

I recall you were at the same point during a discussion you had with Dave Rubin in his studio, maybe a year ago, that was about faith. I thought of reaching out to you then, but it slipped my mind.

Please reach out to me via my email of record. It will be worth it.

God did not create sin. The fall of man and women allowed sin to rise- God gave the world over to Satan. Many people and churches call themselves Christians, but aren’t. Homosexuality is a sin, and like all sin, if you are a proclaimed, honest to goodness Christian, you will do everything possible to repent and flee your sin, not embrace it. So no, Mayor Pete, your creator did not create your homosexuality. God cannot be in the presence of sin- he is holy and the only way to be in his presence is to repent and change.

Wow – So God created me as an abusive, selfish, narcissistic, rebellious, apple eating, alcoholic, drug addict. So if anyone has a problem with any of those things they should take it up with my creator. Right… So good friggin’ luck with that. I guess, according to petey boy every one of us are created divinely perfect in every way because, after all, God doesn’t make mistakes.
Idiot –

There are several people who think this particular Democrat candidate a troll to make Christians look bad. Advice is to stay clear of him, not engage him. He’s a newcomer, that will have to fight more than Hillary Clinton to break through. Gay is not enough. Dems will go elsewhere for their 2020 candidate, …odds are….

Regardless of the biblical admonition vs homosexuality, I remain bumfuzzled over the continued conservative reinforcement of the squeaky 3% of the population by always referring to them as “gay”. Those with whom I am familiar (some are friends) are no more “gay” than one “demon possessed”. They are sodomites (biblically) and homosexuals (DSMII), not even close to those of us who are actually gay (happy and vibrant).

So, please refrain from using their usurped and self-serving mantle and call them what they really are. How can such a small minority of perverts lay claim to our beautiful language? And, why do the majority on non-perverts let them?

Scottie, I give you accolades for NOT using the word and Bill, the odor of “lets not offend anyone – no matter how small the population may be” rests heavily on your words.

Interesting. This is one subject where attempts to be reasonable are met with unreasonable responses. It is the first of these discussions that I’ve noticed to have received down votes…

“Mayor Pete” is a cafeteria Christian, picking and choosing which Christian doctrines he’ll accept and which he rejects. That isn’t real Christianity, it’s leftism (another religion) trying to adopt various tenets of Christianity as a form of protective coloration.

11:00 Utterly spot on!
I have always found leftists far, far more upset to find that I’m gay and right wing, than right-wing people are to find the same thing.

I’d go further, I think much “homophobia” on the right is driven by the assumption that gay people are, more or less by default, leftists. A notion the left pushes with all its might. Once this false assumption is dispelled there may be still some distaste or dissaproval, but anyone who believes in freedom learns to live with the choices of others they may not like.

Personally I find the notion of voluntary vegetarianism in a clearly omnivorous species vaguely creepy but so long as you’re not nicking my sausages, go for it.

There’s a lot to unpack here.

I think it was brilliant of Mayor Pete to bring the issue of his sexuality into the forefront. Chants of “The first gay President” are not that far-fetched. If they can’t have a woman in the White House, I wouldn’t put it past them to try for gay.

And Bill is right. If he is charismatic and well spoken, that is dangerous, especially combined with his sexuality.

On the topic itself. I’m a born again Christian, and I’ve struggled with the issue of homosexuality being a sin practically from Day One. If God created all people, then that includes homosexuals. Why condemn them to Hell if You created them? I still haven’t figured that one out.

God did not create sin- sin happened at the fall of man- in the garden. He also created man to have free will, so in essence it is a choice. But God cannot create or be in near around sin. Please continue to study the bible especially the fall of man and seek out the truth.

You have a struggle with ONE particular action being categorized as a sin? Just ONE? Shoot, I can list 20 things that make me uncomfortable when I read those things are sinful. Those “things” are a part of me. (or where)
Gheez if you only struggle regarding one activity you are WAY ahead of me.
Just because a person has something that proves over and over to be a truly uncontrollable desire doesn’t mean “God made me that way” so it is okay. If that were the case there would be no sin. Zero. We could get by with “God made me that way” for anything and everything.

For the record-
Thank the Lord for discomfort. If it wasn’t for “discomfort from God” I would already be dead. ; )

I’ll phrase what other people mentioned another way, try to say it from how I understand it: sin is not doing God’s will, and created by God only in that a shadow is created by a candle existing. Where there is light, there is not darkness. One can’t exist without the other. When God said “Don’t eat this fruit” there was an opposite “Eat this fruit” choice.

I think when people get focused on certain sins and make a big deal out of them, they miss the fact that a lot of behaviors/actions/thoughts are not good for us and lead to pain and suffering. This is why some things are prohibited. Coveting is a sin that people don’t usually think about, but the envy of what someone else has leads you to be unhappy with what you do have or may prevent you from working toward getting your own instead of taking what someone else has earned (or was given as a gift from God). Stealing can be as small as slacking off a little bit at work, not giving what is required in return for your pay. This can lead to sloth, or thinking you can get away with doing even less.

God intended for a man and woman to marry and join together, to love each other and love their children. That some couples do not love each other as much as they should or mistreat their children is not a reflection on the intent of God. Neither is the fact that some humans, as full of flaws as any other human, as a result of sin, have a flaw that lead them to desire someone like them, instead of a compliment, a help mate, as intended. Others desire two or three companions or a rotation of people but without that one to one connection you do not form a deep, trusting relationship as you should.

You are not condemned for being a homosexual or any other “God made me this way” condition. It is when you think you know better and wish to go your own way that you run into trouble. It wasn’t biting the apple that kicked Adam and Eve from the garden, but that they thought they knew better. That the shadow was just as good as the Light. When they left it, and learned just what darkness was, “their eyes were opened”. When you recognize your failure and ask God for help, for forgiveness, all of that is wiped away and you can start again. Typically daily as we realize we’re all that flawed.

Big swing and a miss. Mental case mayor Pete has spent months pretending Pence is feuding with him. Meanwhile, Pence has said nothing to or about Pete and likely has no idea who he is. This is just a lunatic leftist trying to smear Pence.

“It wonders me” that two groups are lumped together into a “community” while actually having nothing in common. One group believes that god (lower case because the God of the Bible causes no one to sin, and sin is defined by God, not man) does not make mistakes and made them homosexual, and another group believes god does make mistakes which can be corrected by surgery.

What concerns me more than the gay thing here is the whole “taking the Lord’s name in vain” problem. Putting words in His mouth is a very dangerous thing. Dennis Prager did an awesome series on the Ten Commandments, and here is the video on this commandment.

If there is any response from VP Pence I anticipate considerably more respect for Pete Bootlegleg’s Freedom of Religion than Pete has shown for Pence’s.

OK, God made me sexually attracted to multiple women and strongly so. I am also strongly self centered which makes me want to use whatever power I have to get my way by lying, stealing, cheating, even physically injuring or killing. Any others identify with my tendencies? I have usually and increasingly become able to avoid all of these very human tendencies. Obviously I haven’t avoided all of these things in my life, but I have never excused my bad behavior by saying God made me this way or I didn’t hurt anyone else.

I plead guilty and turn away from it. Not just because they are likely to have severe consequences, but because I believe they are evil in a larger sense. I am very comfortable to take my guidance from the Bible, subject to context and reason. I find no justification for homosexual, beastiality, polygamy being positive behaviors, but it isn’t my business to treat them differently than I do my own failings. So I feel no obligation to endorse them as inconsequential choices. I have family members and acquantances who are homosexual. We have normal relationships, but they do not expect me to endorse their behavior choice, nor will they find me sitting in judgement of them any more than my interacting with any others.

So does the fact of all such built in urges require you to declare them moral, requiring endorsement as objectively good? I doubt it. In fact, I have found that if I were to act mine out, that is a bad idea, not just legally, but morally.

Would you defend my identity so that my hitting on you or your significant other is just part of who I am and no reason for you to object, avoid me or intervene? After all your significant other is not your personal property so it is not for you to interfere with our free choices in accordance with our natures or you are a free actor who may be interested in reciprocating my interest.

We may not have much choice in our human proclivities, but we do have a choice in what we act out. In a healthy society, it can not just be based on what is only legal. For an individual it is certainly not healthy to indulge all of your tendencies which are not strictly illegal.

So how do we decide what is right/good/OK and which behaviors are not? The reasonable and consistent standard that seems to have created a society and culture that continues to create human opportunity to be our best self, is the foundational moral code of the Judeo-Christian tradition. I believe this is God breathed and eternally true.

That does not mean that homosexuals can not be Christians. Christianity is a faith for imperfect people who struggle to live up to the God given norms, yet fail. What is un-Christian is calling what is wrong behavior, right. I’ver fallen into this error as has everyone. It is a failing. Maybe Mayor Pete just needs to put aside his rationalization for his preferred behavior and think about fundational truth about what is God’s best option for humanity. In the mean time, we’ll all be trying to do the same thing as best we can.

Mike

Christian Doctrine, simplified for the layman:

1. God is (I could stop there, but I’ll continue) omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.
2. God created Man with Free Will.

So, Mr. Buttigieg, read #2 and explain again, please?

What I hear is “Vote for me because I’m gay.” I really don’t care; what I want to hear are his policies and his stance on issues. He has nothing to offer in that regard.

He knows he’s got nothing else to set him apart from the other 100 people running for the nomination. The Democrat party here in Indiana has spent the last 8 years attacking Christians in this state. Mike Pence became the ultimate target with the RFRA action when he was governor. “Mayor Pete” is just taking that action to a national level to score political points. He has no plans to serve his constituency and if you go to South Bend you will see that he has done little there. Hoping people see through this.

Video unavailable? Oh dear, known conservatives using God, and Homosexual in a title & description, klaxons must have been going off like mad at Youtube HQ.

And with this Mayor Beto II has officially ended his Presidential campaign and launched his campaign to be VP. Whoever The Radical Left chooses as the Dems’ nominee has to be a savior. Mayor Beto II will provide balance to the the nonwhite and/or nonmale nominee and allow them to use the word “historic” in having an openly gay man as their veep.
Of course, if Spartacus Booker runs and picks Mayor Beto II as his running mate we’ll have the balanced ticket of a closeted gay man running with an openly gay man
