Measure Of A Man

 

In recent weeks, the assault on traditional manhood has been intensified. The phrase “Toxic Masculinity” has been bandied about quite enthusiastically in the last couple of years. But, in the last month or so, there seems to be a full court press on the part of the Cultural Marxists and Intersectional Feminists (but, I repeat myself). First, there’s the “study” from the American Psychiatric Association  stating that Masculinity is not just harmful, it may be a psychosis. Then, there’s the Gillette commercial. One of the most tone-deaf pieces of advertising that I’ve ever seen. “We’re going to scold you for being a Neanderthal brute, but buy our products”.

 

One of the latest and most creative tactics from the Left is to try fool us by agreeing with us. One makes a simple statement, “Masculinity is not toxic”, and they respond with, “No, it’s not…except when it is.” These are the people who are raising their daughters to hate and fear all men as evil predators, and their sons to be timid and self-loathing eunuchs, second-guessing their every deed, word and thought, lest they exhibit some vestige of the dreaded Toxicity.

 

Free thinking. Individualism. Duty. Honor. In the twenty-first century, these are signs of Toxic Masculinity. How do you explain honor to a society that doesn’t understand conscience? How do you explain modesty to a society that doesn’t understand shame? How do you explain humility to a society that knows no self control?

 

Bushido. The Code Of Chivalry. At one time, even into recent history, these were the ideas that molded men, even if they didn’t know it. Be honest. Protect the weak. Keep your word. Speak the truth, regardless of the cost. True, there have always been liars, but REAL men have held the line.

 

I know a guy who has two beautiful children, and a third on the way, who parrots the “A fetus is just a mass of tissue” argument, as though his kids were, at some point, less than human. Another friend extols the virtue of abortion, as though the virtue is in the choice, rather than what is being chosen.  

 

 Fifty years of Critical Theory is paying off. The Frankfort School would be proud. People today are so indoctrinated into the groupthink, that they don’t even know what they don’t know. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one of the most breathtakingly ill-informed people ever to be elected to high office, but her fans (and make no mistake, she’s as much a celebrity as she is a public official) think she’s a genius. In the last election cycle, Bernie Sanders,  an economic ignoramus and mental pygmy was actually a viable Presidential candidate.

 

For the last 225 years, America has been the bulwark against tyranny.  She hasn’t always lived up to her ideals, but her ideals have never wavered. My friends, don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Masculinity built America, and America is the hope of the world. I won’t apologize for being a man.  Thank God my wife loves me as such. By modern standards, I’m toxic, and I’m armed. I’m not going to moderate, or disarm. Your move.
