I’m toying with the idea of a Member get together online, and wondering how we could make that happen. Let me know in the comments below if you can use Zoom, or Cisco Webex or Skype, or some other group video conference tool. I envision chairing the meeting and chatting with y’all one at a time, and possibly recording the whole thing if it turns out ok.
What do you think? Would you do it under those conditions? Are you able?

Thanks to Members Doug, Gene and Lydia, we were able to conduct testing on three video conferencing platforms — Skype, Webex and Zoom — this afternoon. Only Zoom worked well, so that’s what we’ll use for a BWDC meeting in the very near future. Stay tuned to this site for further details. If you’d like to participate, knowing that we’ll record the gathering and post it for Members only here, then send me a private message with your email address. You can download the Zoom app, but you can also use it in a browser window, we you prefer.
By the way, I’ve just discovered — but not tested — an awkwardly-named video conferencing alternative that doesn’t require an account, password-secures the room of up to 75 users, and runs in a browser window. I may do a test run in a little while by posting a link here…where it’s unlikely to be seen by anyone.
We definitely need to make these happen, if for no other reason than to help Scott live out his radio show host dreams! š
THAT’S what I’m talkin’ ’bout!
Iām far from interesting but will offer myself as tribute for the greater good. š
Jennifer, if you’d like to participate in the next one, please PM me with your email address and I’ll send you an invitation.
I use Zoom or Skype. Will be okay with whatever you plan on utilizing.
I can zoom already, and can get on webex or skype, but would prefer not to š

Hi Scott and team,
I use most of these applications weekly to communicate with colleagues.
Please let me know if folks would like to give this a try or test settings.
I can do Zoom and WebEx. I could theoretically do Skype, though I’ve never used it for a more than two-way conversation.
Without buying one of those products I cannot do any of those things. And right now, I can’t afford them. I would also have to buy a pad or laptop. I am on a Kindle right now. Good idea though.
Harry, all three are free, at least at the basic level which is all you need. If you have a Kindle that can see this website, then you can probably download the app for Zoom, Skype and Cisco Webex. I’m not saying you should, but you can.
Well, I can try. Some things in Kindle don’t seem to work the same as in a tablet. Will let you know.
Ok, I downloaded Skype. Familiar with it at work, not sure how it would work on a
Kindle. Will try to download others. And by the way I am almost 65 (April 26), but I was a computer programmer 17 years ago, and can figure out things fast. Just didnt think free Android apps were available.
Harry, is it a Kindle Fire tablet or one of their reader devices?
I have a Kindle Fire tablet. I down loaded Zoom as well. Have not gotten Webex yet. Looked briefly at the instructions for Zoom, seems easy enough. It’s just occasionally I seem to have difficulties on lots of sites because the browser is Amazon’s Silk. I am sure between the 2 of use we can figure it out. (I don’t give up easily.)
Love your attitude. I had a Kindle Fire tablet until recently, so I’m familiar with some of the quirks. I’m going to test a Zoom room soon. The challenge is getting someone to test it with me.
My availability is quirky, since I work from home, have 4 dogs and have a wide that is not well (not covid19), but I would be very willing to try it you. By the way, I am praying for all of you, including your families. Please pray they find what is wrong with Donna (my wife) and can fix it, or go on disabilty. (She definitely needs her left knee replaced and a herniated disk in her back operated on. Hit by a truck over twenty years ago.)
Lord Jesus, you know Donna and you know exactly what she needs. You know the doctors, and you can guide them. You alone are the healer. I’m asking that you intervene with Donna and Harry in a way that will leave no doubt that you are the mover, and doer, and the Lord of mercy. Thank you, Jesus.
I have used Zoom and WebEx. I prefer Zoom. I could probably figure out Skype as well.
Still holding out for someone over age 39. Thanks, Nolan. I may have to put this idea I’m toying with back in the toy box.
Well, I certainly qualify as over 39. I have Zoom for church meetings and use MS Teams extensively for work. TEAMs works great. I a a little worried about the security of zoom.
I’ll neither confirm nor deny my age, but I doubt I conceal it well. Any of Zoom, Skype, or WebEx would work for me.
Skype here.
Thanks, Tim, for getting the conversation rolling.
