Members Video Chat: Hey, ChiComs, Listen Up! (Ep. 002)

Our second Members-only video chat, recorded April 15, 2020, wandered far and wide, and we had a great time! Because we’re too cheap to pay for more time, the video ends abruptly…but perhaps not a moment too soon. If you’d like to be part of the next one, send a Private Message to me (Scott Ott) with your email address.

Participants in Ep. 002 (left to right, top to bottom) Rod, Scott, Gene, William, Ray, Ralph, James, Steve, Bill, Kevin, Laura

A little update: Scott helped me fix the problem today!

If you want to run the meeting from your browser only, without downloading and installing the Zoom app, you must use Chrome.

After the meeting was over I found some small print in some IT department’s website that if you don’t download and run the Zoom app, i.e., if you only run it from your browser, then the sound only works with Chrome. Doesn’t say that anywhere on the Zoom website or knowledge base that I could find.

I use Vivaldi, which is based on Chrome. It had worked for me before because there is also a browser extension that must have installed itself with the Zoom app. Previously, I had downloaded and installed the app, then closed it and run the meeting from my browser. Worked fine. Then I purged the software using a get-it-all utility, including (I infer) the extension. (This is guesswork–I don’t know that I had the extension installed.)

Well that was fun! I’ve been following their work for a year or 2 and here I am, a member for like 2 days, chatting it up with Bill and Scott. I must say I was a bit nervous. I sincerely appreciate the work you guys do and given the opportunity, I’ll try to bring a bit more substance next time.

The pat-down at the door should relieve you of any substance you might bring. Thanks, James.

I agree with Bill’s final comment. I believe the CCP will have hell to pay for this horrendous perpetration. However, we the people must reelect DJT for that to happen. Any other outcome will probably result in the end of liberty as we know it.

Bill, as a Michigander I will say that ‘that woman from Michigan’, aka Gubernator Whitmer, will not be ‘recalled’. The Democrat party in Michigan is a force to be reckoned with. Hopefully she will not be reelected in 2022.

It’s perhaps preferable to Michiganoid, although nothing will be acceptable to the average Michanthrope, and all terminology is open to Michinterpretation.

You so funny…Michigander is the usual sobriquet for a resident of Michigan. I tend to go back and forth with that and Michiganian. Neither one rolls off the tongue smoothly. Of course we could use Wolverine but that doesn’t go over too well with us Spartan fans. It’s a beautiful state to live in although the politics get tricky.

Scott regarding BW Now, it takes a brilliant moderator to play devil’s advocate. It seems that occasionally you manage to get under Bill’s skin. And he recognized it.

Haven’t watched all of this yet but I have to apologize for all the messing around I did. I could not hear anything, but apparently my mic was working. I spent the whole hour troubleshooting, and Scott is going to help me troubleshoot again tomorrow. (I finally muted my mic–wish someone had asked me to do it sooner.) Anyway, that’s why I was popping in and out and looked like I was in my own little world, because I was.

Wow, Scott, censored by our Chinese communist overlords? Should I be flattered?

Laura – my wife kept asking ” why no women” I said she’s trying. Gotta work next time

I am pleased to report that with Scott’s help, I got it working. So I will be there next meeting! So grateful to Scott for giving me his time!

I must say Bill, I loved the Cold War even more than Apollo 11. The episodes on Vietnam especially were very educational, because that is such a divisive and touchy subject, and now I feel like I could defend my point of view.
