The Taliban take over of Afghanistan includes a public relations assault designed to portray a kinder, gentler image for the ‘former’ terror group. Women must fear no more, since they’re welcome to learn and work “shoulder to shoulder” with men, enjoying freedom within the context of Sharia law. If New Taliban is so sweet, why are women in hiding, and thousands clambering to board U.S. Air Force transport planes out of the country as if they feared the return of Taliban Classic?

They only one claiming they are ‘new’ are the braindead in the Biden administration.
They said it clearly in their press conference. Women will be allowed to allowed to participate in government, civic life, employment and education “according to Sharia law”.
Every apologetic news outlet seems to have missed the qualifier.
DEM communists and Islamist terrorists lie like a rug. It’s a “cultural” thing.
The MujahiDems have made certain that any act of protection of innocents in the future Afghanistan will be bloody and costly. One stolen election.
I know a lot of people over there–military guys who have trained in the US. They are in hiding. Taliban has already come to their homes to “investigate” them, put them on trial, and rule on the basis of Islamic law–which means that they will be dead soon. It is tearing us apart. And the US has so shamed itself in an honor/shame culture that there is no coming back from it. And in addition to that, what will come out of the terror training (not by the ones who fought on our side but by the ones who are invited into the playground that the Taliban will establish) will come back to bite the whole world. All of that while the Afghan people live a hellish existence created by this new “moderate” Taliban.
Small businesses?!? The Taliban don’t need no small businesses:

Elon Musk just patented a way to get lithium from common clay at half the cost of other sources. Utah alone has several million tons of lithium in its clays. The price will fall very fast. Anyone who bet on Afghan lithium has just lost billions. And yes the robots on mars has already found salt and lithium rich clay there and the extraction process will work on mars cheaply.

That’s fantastic news, Wesley. But not so fast. Maybe they didn’t lose their billions if they were also betting on the EPA, OSHA, or some other alphabet soup obstructionists shutting American production down. See: fracking.
Perhaps Elon Musk’s SpaceX efforts will facilitate asteroid mining and eliminate the need for foreign competition of all metals.
For your delectation.
The beardless ones are just comprised of an effeminate male and an ugly cow from next door. Nothing to see here.
Sorry guys, had to be done…actual meme to follow.
Listening to the Taliban’s “We can change” spiel is strikingly similar to Saddam Hussain’s song and dance number of a similar name. Even Satan was taken in by the charm and lies.
It was as believable then as it is now.
The actual deeds will pay no mind to the lip service being given to t western media.
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
Don’t get fooled again, no, no
Yeah
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss
Spot on. The liberal-media complex aren’t worried by what non white folk actually do to women, gays, people trying to read books etc. so long as they say the right (or rather the left) things.
Any Day is a good day for a Who reference,….not a W.H.O. but Who.
Well, we of course know that Presidentish Biden’s favorite song is a WHO song.
People try to put us d-down (Talkin’ ’bout my generation)
Just because we g-g-get around (Talkin’ ’bout my generation)
Things they do look awful c-c-cold (Talkin’ ’bout my generation)
I hope I die before I get old (Talkin’ ’bout my generation)
I can’t. I just CAN’T believe you picked that song for Presidentish Biden. I had picked “Who Are You?”……just seemed fitting and rather on point now.
A kinder and gentler Taliban.
Nation building is a very expensive hobby and it should be vehemently discouraged.
I am getting annoyed at this line of discussion. Granted the safety and future of women, children, and all the other assorted “non-normal” types of people is important. No argument here.
However.
Just as with the Teddy Bear memorials and mushy-message T-shirts becoming the remembrance foci of mas murders the many truly important facets of the Afghani disaster are slowly being submerged in a lake of maudlinity.
We are losing sight of (at minimum) the following.
We have a President who is mentally incompetent, who is being led around by the most revolting and scary set of advisors ever to gain power in our nation; we have lost our pre-eminent position in the world as both a military power and a moral lodestar. Our nation, and probably much of the world, is spiraling out of control. And much more.
Lay off the women and children angle for a while. Keep a focus on what is truly scary and important.
(Yes, I’m in an increasingly curmudgeonly mood) but in my 70 years I’ve never been this scared and worried).
Rather than know the amount of money spent on “women’s rights in Afghanistan” (granted, this is important to the taxpayer who is coughing up that money), I’d really like to know the total amount of what the taxpayer has ponied up over these past 20 years in “investment” in GWB’s “nation building” exercise.
I’m not seeing a Marshall Plan. I’m not seeing a return on this investment either. What I’m seeing is more money in the form of equipment, technology, intelligence, and weaponry that is now in the hands of a terrorist group. And there is no doubt in my mind they’ll use that stuff against us.
It’s called a kakistocracy, a system of government which is run by the worst, least qualified, and/or most unscrupulous citizens. That is what we have become.
Interesting Kaki is pretty much what we, as children, used to call a bathroom deposit.
I remember in the early days of the Afghan war, the Taliban were all wearing white turbans reflecting purity to their islamic faith, and people who were defecting to the government side would take them off and put on grey turbans. I wonder what the significance of their government people wearing black turbans is? I wonder if it’s a temporary thing. Part of the con?
Lying Barbarians don’t change their spots.
Having grown up in Nigeria in the northern provinces where Islam is predominant, I’m aware that their Koran allows for taquiya which is the belief that it is fine to lie to the infidel as long as it takes to achieve your goals. It is also possible that their leaders may be concerned that, despite the Biden Administration’s feckless response to their aggression, there are other nations which may not be so clueless: Israel, India, certain European countries. Perhaps even some of our downline military leaders who have seen many of their troops annihilated by these brutes may have some type of revenge on their minds.
Well said.
This fundamental western ignorance, whether it be willful or not, about taquiya is why the lie of Islam, which is naturally dualistic, has been so successful. As far as I understand, Islam is not a religion of peace since the abrogation of the earlier (Mecca) doctrines with those of later, more war-like doctrines (Medina).
You touch it with a needle Mr Pimentel. A brilliant summation of the fundamental problem with Islam, for genuinely peaceful Moslems as well as for the West.
If the Taliban were wise, they would look at what has happened to Europe as a result of 5-6 years of Afghan/Syrian ‘refugees’ migrating there. Europe has changed forever and not for the better. The best weapon the Taliban has against America is to send as many refugees here as possible, particularly young males. A majority will simply become just another burden on the U.S. taxpayer, disrespectful to every value we hold, adding to the dilution of the rapidly receding American culture. But among them, and in no small numbers, will be those intent on eradicating the ‘infidels’.
I suspect that the vast majority of Afghans trying to get out are opposed to Taliban thuggery and will make excellent citizens of the USA.
See e.g. the Cubans who escaped Castro’s and have been successful in the USA. And yes; I am aware that Castro seeded the ranks of those refugees with some terrible types.
Legal and controlled immigration to the USA is fine. Illegal immigration is not.
Ah, yes. The migrant that burned the French Nantes cathedral was released after 15 months and then violently killed the priest who forgave him and let him back in.
Europe’s experience bears out your theory:

They have no intention of assimilating, they’re looking to conquer. When they get here or Europe, in their opinion, it is theirs. We are the interlopers. I’m reminded of reading about a perfectly reasonable American Muslim being questioned on the fact that Muslims may build mosques anywhere but it would be illegal to build a church in Saudi Arabia. He considered that to be perfectly normal, proper and reasonable.
