New Trump Homeland Power to Grab Your Photo Entering or Leaving USA

The Trump administration proposes to grab your photo anytime you enter or leave the USA. This new power comes at a time when China builds facial profiles from DNA samples to target ‘dangerous’ minorities, your phone makes a 3-D map of your face, and Edward Snowden’s new book — Permanent Record — shows how the NSA sweeps up all data and stores it forever.

UPDATE: After we recorded and posted this, we learned that the Trump administration has withdrawn the proposal. The episode is still worth the watching, since we must remain ever vigilant against such incursions under any administration. Here’s a link to a WaPo story about the withdrawal

Where’s the Republican party that stood for individual rights? Does the GOP’s law-and-order inclination send it down the slippery slope to supporting a ubiquitous surveillance state?

Bill, Google IS NSA and vice versa. Those classified presentations that Snowden leaked showed Google partnering with the NSA! People don’t realize that corporations are “creatures of the state.”

Corporation – An artificial person or legal entity created by or under the authority of the laws of a state. An association of persons created by statute as a legal entity (Black’s Law Dictionary, 6th Ed.)

NSA and Google are in the same jurisdiction, so they are essentially joined at the hip, controlled by the people who make up our government officials. Anonymity and privacy are being whittled away and China is on the forefront of getting into people’s knickers. America is not far behind, unless the people wake up and protest.

So, every time a Chinese soldier shot dead a farmer during Mao’s reign of terror, he said, “Don’t take it personally?”

Scott, the party of evil is in power now, so they will certainly use our personal data to control those who oppose them.

so this is scary, opened an email today – while using firefox and a vpn, did not click on a link or image in the email. it came from a company i was on a distro list.
firefox blocked a :fingerprinting action: what is fingerprinting?

Fingerprinters collect settings from your browser and computer to create a profile of you. Using this digital fingerprint, they can create a unique profile of you to track you across different websites. Fingerprinters are blocked in Strict Enhanced Tracking Protection.

These are some of the characteristics of your device and browser that fingerprints can collect:

The browser and extensions you use.
Operating system and model of your device,
Screen resolution, operating system, and language
Information about your network connection.
Fonts installed on your computer.

Every piece of information on you that is collected by a commercial enterprise is owned by that enterprise and not by you. Thus, it is not an issue of your privacy anymore. Most major commercial enterprises are already co-opted by existing law and/or operating/licensing agreements and/or standing warrants to provide whatever information is demanded. This provision can occur at any stage in the enterprises’ collection process – including its original collection. It’s all “lawful” even if immoral or distasteful or opposed to “American values”.

Everything.

So really there is no escape. You have no privacy anymore. And it doesn’t matter what your position is or how secure you might feel. Not even the rare activist judge who might want to reverse such a course has any privacy.

So it all boils down to the morality and values of the people who have access to that information. How an when will they “use” it?

In the movie Minority Report (which people think of the pre-crime future seeing triplets) Tom Cruise’s character is identified by his eyeball while walking through a mall and ads start playing remarking on his past purchases and what is on sale today.

The idea of the Illuminati may or may not be true, but the idea of societal control by a secretive, behind the scenes cabal is part of human nature, I think. If they don’t exist, I suspect we created them and they’re running Google right now.

We’re kinda screwed either way… on the business side while they cannot put us in jail they can ruin our lives or just render us unpersons, digitally non-existent. When everything is online and Google is the encyclopedia, does someone without a profile really exist? If there is no picture because it isn’t linked in the search engine, did it really happen? Government might have some difficulty vanishing us without a trial, the more that BigData becomes enmeshed in the hydra that is the State, (see how many people the President has had to fire but still faces overwhelming opposition) the more dangerous the whole beast becomes.

One of the endings of Deus Ex: Invisible War (computer game from 2004, with 4 different endings based on player choices) had the Illuminati controlling the computer networks of the world and shaping personal behavior via consumer advertising, behind the scenes string pulling on who got permits to open businesses and where, and softer control of the world church.

Remember VIP, the phony product Rock Hudson’s ad exec character concocts in “Lover Come Back”? It “goes viral” — as we’d say today — when his boss (Tony Randall) mistakenly launches a saturation ad campaign for it.

Instead of cutting myself off from Google I’m going to make myself a star by mass-gathered data. I’m going to do Polonius’ advice speech, musical numbers, and stand-up comedy wherever there are cameras, I’m going to read my Great American Novel every night to Alexa and Siri.

I’m going to saturate the data mines with my presence and when Big Brother arrives, they’ll use my face to project calm authority to the masses, my legacy will rival that of Nebuchadnezzar!

Sounds like the guy who “scrubbed” his Facebook account not by removing questionable items, but by flooding it with dozens of cat videos and photos daily for 6 months, thinking no employer would bother to sort through all that.
