The mass confusion over NFL games being rescheduled due to COVID-19 has led the league to come up with a comprehensive solution to the problem: rescheduling all 176 remaining games to week 17 of the 2020 season.
“We’re making every week between now and then a bye week for everybody,” said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. “If the virus is still around by then, well, tough noogies. We’ll play anyway.”
Goodell went on to describe the league’s partnership with WWE wrestling to help plan what the league has titledĀ “NFL Sack Smack,” a free-for-all to be played over 12 hours on January 3, 2021. The playoffs have been canceled and the last team with players on the field will be awarded a bloodstained Lombardi trophy.
To facilitate related gambling, the event is slated to be held at Las Vegas’s new Allegiant Stadium.
