My blue collar solution to room tone was building a booth and adding layers of packing blankets. I use Adobe Audition’s editing software (Spot cleaner infrequently) to clean up sound.

I think that would overwhelm the chips in my old notebook. Fortunately, there’s an easy mute button, both in the browser (or program) window and a dedicated button on my notebook. 🙂 Great find, though!
