The helicopter travel boom over urban areas highlights the yawning income inequality between the people trapped in traffic jams below and those who rise above it all because of their power and privilege, according to The New York Times. Should “the 1%” be allowed to go from downtown to the airport in eight minutes while the people crawl across the ground for an hour and a half to accomplish the same objective?

I think you have nailed an old story with this. I seem to remember a story of one man being so envious of his brother for his gift, that he bashed his head in with a rock. This flaw is so great that it made it into the top 10 list of things to live your life by; to do or not do, number 10 to be precice.
Another important flaw is the pride aspect. Pride does not come from having something, it comes from having more of something than someone else. And how much must it hurt those that have lost something they took great pride in, namely that they could afford to fly over the scum and villainy that they now have to share the airways with?
So a quick use of the interwebs shows that a flat fare cab from Times Sq to LGA is $52.00 and can easily take an hour.
Gotham Air is about $200 and takes 6 minutes.
Seems like if you are flying on business this could make a lot of sense.
Less travel time
Far more professional service
& I’m in a F-ing helicopter!
SOLD! to the man with the curly locks!
The whole “income inequality” discussion is disgusting and degrading. It is entirely based on one, maybe 2 of what have been known as the 7 deadly sins. The 2 sins I see here are Envy and maybe some Sloth depending on the person. This whole concept of watching someone else spending their own money doing something YOU would like to do, then wanting to stop them simply because you can not afford to do it is dangerous self indulgence. When politicians base entire political campaigns on tempting people with goodies and controlling peoples behavior it really speaks to how far we have fallen as a society.
Isn’t every helicopter which flies instead of driving removing one car from the road congestion?
If noise is the issue, lets start w/ banning LAPD from hovering over a crime scene at a couple hundred feet over residential areas (all of the LA basin and the Valley.)
I live right on the helicopter flight path between Manhattan and the Hamptons , how’s that for being looked down upon? I have no objection at all to rich people living well, otherwise what is money for? Part of the leftist/communist project is to see to it that no one can have anything better than anyone else.
Save for the politicians, you mean.
Also, I hate the ghetto birds cause LAPD would park one a couple hundred feet about my house till the fuel ran out. Then they’d send in another helicopter. Repeat for hours.
As one who at least visited , if not stayed at , all the main hotels in Bermuda back in the late 60’s early 70’s , I’ve been curious to know which one Bill’s father was managing .
Once took me 3hrs to drive from Reseda to Westwood. Cause it was raining.
